I'm assuming that your son is not checking any luggage....Imagine that ordeal of not seeing it again or taking weeks before it does show up!

I hope he arrives home safely and can get something to eat & rest. He's a good son to have come home to see you for Mother's Day.

Now when I fly domestically if I'm by myself I will only fly first class. I don't travel often and it's worth the extra cost. I'm going on vacation this summer to Europe and we are flying business class. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly.

My dear sister and I always flew business class to Europe and never had any problems, always an enjoyable flight. I don't know where you're departing from, if it's available, take advantage of business class perks-use the lounge.

If there's a nonstop direct flight to an airport near the one you are considering, it may be wise to take the flight nearer that airport and rent a car to your destination....you'd probably be renting a car at your destination anyway. It could avoid the connecting flight worries.

This sounds like a flight that may have originated at Newark Airport.

My daughter and son-in-law rarely have a good experience leaving from there.

Passengers will soon be able to get a complete refund immediately for any flights cancelled, delayed 3 hours + , or significantly changed. Refunds include the entire cost of the ticket, costs for seat selection and baggage fees. The airlines will need to inform passengers they are due full refunds.

The legislation passed and will head to the oval for signature.

@occasionalrain I do, all the time for long distance trips.

I train from east coast to west coast.

Northeast to Orlando, Florida (Disney World).

I live in the NE, as does a friend who was traveling to Florida. She took a train and was able for her car to travel to Florida on the train with her.

@Alsace Gal We're leaving out of Newark and flying United's Polaris. From what I understand they have a wonderful Polaris lounge at Newark. They only have a few of those lounges at certain airports across the country. I heard that the food in the lounge is much better than the plane which is certainly not surprising!

@CelticCrafter Newark is one of the larger airports in the country so it will have problems. I've flown out of Newark many times and only had a problem once with a flight being delayed.

I travel a lot & love flying. I’ve only had one incident in Poland when I made the connecting flight but my baggage didn’t. However, the luggage was delivered 9 pm that night. It wasn’t the worst scenario. Now, I only fly direct, no stress of connecting flights.
