"When the going gets tough, the tough get going"
For the life of me, the other day, I couldn't get it all. LOL

Are you looking for an explanation? The quote means that when times are tough and challenging, strong people mobilize themselves to solve any problem that comes their way.

No no no, I just felt yesterday it was appropriate in something we were discussing here at the house. So tickled to remember it. It does fit the times now too.

Yes, it DOES fit our era. May it get us through these rough and crazy times.

Doncha just hate it when everyday words and phrases elude you? I'm only 65 but am already having a great deal of trouble with this every single day. The most basic words leave me and sometimes I can't even get them back. Sometimes I can Google something, or just Google 'Thesaurus and (the idea of the word I forgot)' and get it but not always.
It's very frustrating.

Always reassuring to dredge something after some thought. I get sort of used to doing it.
I heard this long, long ago and still mutter if before I pull up my big girl pants and get on with it. Adulting is hard.

This was a phrase I heard a lot growing up. I passed it on to my kids!

I remember that song from the Jewel of the Nile. Billy Ocean?
When the going gets tough. The tough get going. Oh, when the going gets rou--gh. The tough get rough.

@chickenbutt I know just how you feel. I have lost a lot of words and my short term memory was affected by being under anesthesia for so many hours with my heart surgery. The doctors say that if it wasn't better after several months it probably wouldn't go away. It's been 2 1/2 yr. now so I just have to deal with it. It was so bad the other day that I just put my head in my hands and cried.....something I rarely do but, like you said, it is sooooo frustrating.
