It's a lot of I got mine so scr** you, lack of empathy, lack of caring about others, lack of reality.

Where is it written that one should be able to support oneself on minimum wage? Minimum wage jobs are for kids and second incomes. If you need more to live on, improve your skills and get a higher paying job.
It used to be that way. That's not what real life is today.
People throw out "get a better job" like it's easy to do. It makes me wonder how long it's been since they tried it. We are in an employer market - not an employee market. Pay attention. It's not 1960 or 1980 anymore and it's not as easy as one thinks.

People who work more than one job and don't have much money also don't have a lot of time to plan meals, shop and cook so fast food that is now costing more and more hurts them more than it does all the virtue signalers who claim minimum wage hikes are necessary. Refusing to recognize the wage/price spiral doesn't make it go away.
Maybe the beginning of an answer it to actually improve public schools rather than just hiring more administrators to ram through their pet programs that do nothiing to assure that all children learn to read and can even make change without assistance.

Don't think the cost of this raise won't be passed on to the customers. Not much appetite for $10 Big Macs or $6 fries. Doubtful the unemployed will be flocking to fast-food jobs just due to the raise. They are dead end jobs, long hours, and working conditions less than stellar. Workers must put up with obnoxious, demanding customers at many of these places, and since they are open so late, it is downright dangerous in some areas.

On April 1, fast food workers in California will have one of the highest minimum wages in the country at $20 an hour. That's nearly 30 percent higher than the current state minimum wage of $15.50.
I was born in CA and rember when the wage was $3.30
Times have really changed
The sad thing is even 20 an hour does not give you enogh money to rent a decent apartment and buy food. I was born in southern calif and even with minumum wage in the 70's you could still rent a decent apartment.

I am thinking housing and food has to go down in order to work one job and live comfortably.

Making 20 an hour does not mean they get 40 hours a week, or insurance

The same people that can't make the right change or get your order correct for $10/hr now want to make $20/hr, lolol.
Keep pushing for that increased wage and you'll be out of a job because the robots come in and take over, plus, who in their right mind is spending $50 on fast food because incompetent people want more money?
