I've always found snopes to be very helpful.

In some circles, yes. There is a dislike for truth and the back up sources that illuminate it.

Snopes has not been particularly credible from day one.  But they had a very powerful PR machine to convince otherwise.

Interesting that the majority of things I looked up on Snopes was truthful. But, then again, I suppose there are some who just don't like the truth. 

And I do find it rather sad that some do NOT understand what plagiarism is. Oh, well.
