I don't like it either, chessy, and joined again, having quit a long time ago, to follow a family reunion last June (and that was a lot of fun).
I have friends and contacts from too many different places to blend them on Facebook.
I don't know if other people have this problem, but there are professional contacts I do not want to "friend" who want to friend me.
Family and friends would be fine. But Facebook is also a professional networking tool and I already spend enough time on work-related stuff. Don't want to figure out how to sequester professional contacts I do not know well from intimate posts from my nephews, nieces and siiblings and friends.
Nor would they all like each other. So I will be getting off again, now that the reunion was a resounding success. My loved ones and friends know how to get in touch by email.
People say email is going to end, but I think Facebook will. Modern lilfe is complex and mixing up personal life and profesisonal life is (imo) a mistake always. They aren't the same.

I've had many people "friend request" me, but I don't accept many of them. I always message them back and simply say that I limit my friends to family and a few very close friends who no longer live close enough to get together with regularly. I thank them for their interest but sadly must decline.
Before I retired, I did have 2 separate facebook accounts. One I kept strictly for work related friendships and networking. I never posted family or fun items on my work facebook page. I deleted that account when I retired.

I'm not on FB so my knowledge is very limited... just wanted to say my daughter uses the two levels of FB, someone you can let friend you but they have very little access to anything about you. Then there's another level for all those you want to be able to share what's going on.
From what I've seen, FB is what you make of it. My girl never knew her cousins before, just Christmas cards, that kind of thing. Now, because of FB, they're all close, and two have moved out here.

Excellent advice.I thought though, even if you delete it, you're still used for so-called marketing research through the email used upon signing up. I don't know. I've never joined.
