All the Walmart Pharmacies in my area started carrying both the Paxlovid and Molnupiravir ativirals at the beginning of May.  With rollout across all the Walmart Pharmacies nationwide fairly quickly.

Can you buy them ahead of time to have on hand, like Plan B? Or do you have to already be positive and take the time to get a doctor's appointment first?

@Porcelain   No,  It's by prescription only and you have to have a positive home or professional test result first.   My husband tested positive with a home test.  Called up his doctor's office and his doc called in a prescription to the pharmacy.   It's a no charge medication with our without insurance.

Make sure your father check the expiration dates.  The first 2 I received had very short expiration dates.  First pack expires in June - 2022.  My 2nd pack expires July - 2022.

I test myself once a month just for the hell of it so the kit(s) won't go to waste.

It will be interesting to see if this 3rd batch has short expiraiton dates.

 how many days did this take ? The take home test results take a few days to get back , then call your MD then get medication. If one is in high risk categorgy than you don't have days to wait to get the medication  becuse you can develop respiratory or cardiac issues very quickly .

The rapid home covid tests only take 15 minutes.  Husband tested postive with the Binaxnow home test around 1pm.  By 3pm I was at the pharmacy getting his medication.  He is high risk so 2 hours is very acceptable.
