Re: FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LOVE AMAZON

I was going to post why I use Amazon but then decided no, it's a free choice we all can make, no reasons necessary.  I'm not overly concerned about Amazon's market reach because other entities certainly can find inventive ways to deliver excellent services and are showing they're willing to try.   Other stores have set up delivery services, club discounts, personalized attention and some knock themselves out to show how much they value their customers.  That's something Amazon can't quite match.

The time may come that Amazon's wings may need to be clipped by government intervention but it hasn't come to that yet.

Re: FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LOVE AMAZON

Yes, some of us are very aware of this and i posted something to the effects of the nature of this behemoth we call amazon and many didnt take it seriously. I dont order from them anymore unless i absolutely cannot find what im looking for in retail stores. People dont understand the magnitude of this and how its effecting our community. People are losing their jobs and businesses are closing down. You are right amazon is making its way into everything in our community. People dont understand the corporations are not nice, when they take over they are only concerned about profit and not the welfare of people or our environment. Consumers have a choice but so many are so blind and in denial that its just so sad. People need education and more information because they dont think for themselves. Anyway, i dont shop at amazon anymore.

Re: FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LOVE AMAZON

Love Amazon and will continue to shop. We have been a Prime member for as long as I can remember. More power to  them as they break into new avenues. They provide jobs for thousands, and as they get into new areas I'm sure it will be millions of people. As someone else said in a previous post, Amazon is not the downfall of all the b & m stores. There are a variety of reasons. Also, Amazon does not always have the lowest prices on items. Do your reasearch before you buy and get it elsewhere.  That person in the unmarked car is now employed. Whether she just needs extra money for Christmas shopping or to pay bills. She and all the other independant delivery drivers are working. Good for them and Amazon for hiring them. Nope, I don't see Amazon as the doom and gloom entity as you do.  I shop Amazon, other on line retail, B & M stores, local stores. It is all good.

Change and transformation is part of life now. Businesses are being challenged to reinvent themselves and that is a good thing. It has been happening since the advent of the industrial age when the car came along and started transforming the agricultural society into an industrial one and now we are a technological one.

Even Jeff Bezos predicted that Amazon would be replaced in the future.

Re: FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LOVE AMAZON

I don't think it is Amazon's fault that  unmarked vehicles  are delivering. I had an old green pick up deliver a LL Bean package and the other day a different car deliver from Eddie Bauer. I think these people are temps. I have even had Fed Ex in a strange truck before the holidays. The amount of packages ordered on line is astounding. I think also of the increase in paper and plastic and the waste. It is a matter of keeping up with deliveries giving others a job. There was a large banner on the PO about hiring extra help.

I live in a small town and have limited shopping. We have a small Wal-Mart that seems to be decreasing a variety of merchandise.  We have a Walgreens. Our downtown is touristy  shops only. I used to have to make a list and drive a hour or more to shop. I appreciate I can locate. many  items quickly on Amazon.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting something at the cheapest price, which can include free shipping.  It's competition, whether it's Amazon, Q, or any other online retailer.  I have no desire to pay extra to or any other retailer.  If Q wants more of my business, they'll have to look at prices and shipping costs.  Almost everything can be found elsewhere for less money.
