Re: FLIERS: Tips on Scoring a Free Upgrade

Thanks for the tips! I probably won't ever be lucky enough to use them, but you never know! On my last flight I was actually "bumped down" from economy plus. The plane never showed up, so they substituted another one and some seats were scrambled. When I realized what had happened, and the gate attendant checked everything out, I was actually one row behind. Delta said they would refund my money (they did), and the senior flight attendant said she would make sure I got the "economy plus" service, whatever that is - she didn't! {#emotions_dlg.lol}

As far as using points and getting an upgrade, Delta does not do that any longer. DH is a million miler + and if we use points, they will not upgrade.

I fly a few times a year overseas. It is getting more and more difficult to upgrade unless you a top tier customer.

There are fewer flights so they tend to be full. Business class fills up quickly.

The Day of Departure suggestions are just plain silly. Bring a treat for the flight attendants?

Yep, I'm sure they would feel TOTALLY comfortable eating something from a complete stranger!

So no one else uses adblocker then {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

That's why I can't see it. It's a picture, and adblocker blocks it.

These suggestions are pretty misleading. With most airlines, upgrades are based upon status and ticket price. If you don't have one or both of those, you can usually forget it.

I don't think those hints would work on Southwest, but I did have the co-pilot push my wheelchair to the lobby in Denver.

That's true. The upgrade process is pretty much computerized by tiers now.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.
