Lucky Charm, I agree that she was put in an awful situation. Knowledge is power and since her mom is a nurse she'd be able to educate her.

Anonymous calls to the Health Dept would probably be detrimental to her employment.

The daughter had a difficult time finding this position and cannot afford to be fired and lose her references. As I recall this was the first job she had ever held.

A quick search says the employer is required to provide gloves, which they did.

So, complaining to OSHA or the health department won't make any difference.

A sure way to get her fired from this job is to snitch to the authorities.

And another way to get fired is to refuse to do what they ask you to do.

This could easily happen in an office, too. It's not exclusive to PT fast food jobs.

Life is messy. The human body is filled with fluids, and sometimes they leak out. The only other option is to stay home, and live in a plastic bubble.

Say what? I never lived in a bubble and I've never had to deal with anyone's leaked bodily fluids except family,

I doubt it's a common experience unless one is in law enforcement or the medical or mortuary field. Or works in the clean up business.

My son with autism is a CNA and he was required (or heavily suggested) to get a Hep C vaccine....which he did.

It is very difficult for people on the autism spectrum to get jobs mainly because of the competition of the interview processes due to their usual lack of or differing social skills.

My son was invited to come shadow at his current employer before he was even interviewed out of need of the facility (he had just graduated from the program and had employment references) so he got to jump in and work and avoid the interview process. Next time he may not be so lucky.

Really? {#emotions_dlg.blink}

Because I remember the time a client's kid threw up all over the reception area. The mom was embarrassed and apologetic, but did she offer to clean it up? NO.

We had to throw away the carpet.

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't they have people employed for cleaning bathrooms and other areas of a restaurant? I don't know what the daughter's position is but in my opinion I think the manager should have cleaned up the blood in the men's room. I know the daughter doesn't want to make waves but she needs to find out what the proper procedure is in a case such as this so she is prepared should she be told to do something like that again.

Well, they don't work 24/7! Stuff happens.
