They have already held a press conference.  The police have already issued information which has been noted here.  Not speculation.

But people speculate on.....what....was....said.

People take what was said at a press conference, videos shown, and go off on a tangent, and make wild assumptions, as they play armchair detective.

How many times have we seen posts after a child abduction, where people have said, "She didn't cry! She's.guilty!"

Or, "She didn't cry enough! She's guilty!"

Or, "She cried too much! Fake tears! She's guilty!"

We are not trained investigators.

We are not at the scene of the crime.

It is still way early in the investigation, so why not let the experts do their job?

Just because some are addicted to CSI type shows, does not make one a certified sworn investigator of crime scenes, even though they think that they know more, know better, than those people who are trained, with years of experience, who are actually on scene, and actually doing the investigation.

I like to watch medical shows.

Just because I do, doesn't make me a doctor.

My brother's office is just a few blocks away from the blast. I'm glad he was home in NJ, although now that I think about it, he was not terribly far from the bomb scare there. Of course, more information must be gathered and we must be patient but according to my definition, whoever did this aimed to hurt and instill terror in victims.

The blast in NJ could have been very bad, but a kid had left his backpack near the start fo the race and the authorities couldn't find the owner of the backpack so fearing the worst they delayed the start of the race until they could figure out if the backpack posed a threat. While they were determining the backpack wasn't a threat, the bomb went off in a trash can along the race route where dozens/hundreds of runners would have been if the race had started on time. That kid likely saved a few lives and multiple injuries by being careless with his backpack.

The blast in NJ could have been much worse as multiple pipe bombs had been wired together but only one went off.

I'm not sure if the two bombings were related, but having unexploded devices from each blast area will help to determine that. It was reportedly another pressure coooker bomb in NY while in NJ it was pipe bombs, but two blasts in that narrow a time window in two locations not terribly far apart is more than a little suspicious.

The unexploded pressure cooker bomb in NY will help the authoritites a ton. They'll be able to quickly find who sold the cell phone. (Expect it to be a burner type phone with no contract or easy way to trace who bought it.) They can determine the type of explosive used and compare it to the explosive used in the pipe bombs in NJ. If it's a commercial explosive it'll have MicroTags in it telling the investigators where it came from. If it's a home made explosive they'll be able to determine if it was made in the same batch as the pipe bombs/pressure cooker bomb.

God was looking out for people in these bombings. A lost backpack saved lives in NJ. A malfunctioning device in NY saved more lives. We were very lucky this time around. Things could have been much, much worse. Had all of the bombs worked as planned and the timing been right, we could be seeing hundreds dead or wounded.

This is the top story at the Daily Mail right now.  They report that there was an IED and a pressure-cooker bomb.  The latter is what was used in the Boston Marathon bombings a few years ago.  I remember waking up at 4 am and seeing news that the police were chasing the terrorists and they threw a pressure cooker out the car window.  I'm glad no one was killed.  I hope the people in the hospital pull through.

Food for thought - we are engaged in a war in the far east. Every day we are dropping bombs on them, we have snipers there, every horrid thing that is war -- and yet we think that there will not be retaliation here. We niavely think we are safe at home. We are at war people and that war, thankfully, has mostly been far away. But to think nothing will happen here - well isn't that pretty dumb.

Wasn't there a bomb found in Jersey and they had to cancel a race.  News said if they hadn't found it, it was scheduled to blow when the runners were there!  They said it was a small device similar in explosion size to the one in Boston.  That was horrible!

Maybe the NY explosion is totally unrelated, but it makes you wonder.

They are working to see if the two were related or not ? I work in NYC not far from the blast and also I live in NJ so this is not sitting well with me until I know the facts. Prayers for the victims.

There will be a news conference in NYC today at noon Eastern with the Governor and other officials to report on what they know now.  The NYPD is an ultra-sophisticated, professional police force, and along with Federal investigators, I have complete faith that they will solve this crime.  All people injured last night have been released from the hospital with minor injuries.  Although scary, we in NYC live with this uncertainty every single day.  We deal with it and move on while the authorities do their work.

Gov. Cuomo spoke this morning at the scene. They still do not believe there are any ties to international terrorism, although they have deemed the act "deliberate".

The great news is, all 29 victims have been released from the hospital.

I hope they catch this person(s) and fry them.
