Heard a dumpster blew up, blowing out the lower

windows of a 14-story residence for the blind.

Witnesses described hearing a massive noise — 100x louder than

thunder. The smell of gunfire filled the air. People flooded the street

from nearby bars and restaurants. Louder than any thunder I’ve

ever heard in my life ! Like the sky exploded. Shook the building !

I don't have cable, so thank goodness for those cable news stations, and friends calling me. And my home page does come in handy for news updates.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

As I posted before, none of the NYC stations have broken telecasting to report any "what ifs. maybe's, or anything else."   48 hours, baseball, football and other shows are on right now.  No breathless Reporters rushing to the mics to speculate.

Unfortunately, NYC has it's share of gas explosions, cranes falling, multi alarm fires and so on.

I'll wait for the facts.

@MorningLover

How horrible.  I think anybody who would do something like that is a cowardly, sicko, scumbag!  But, to do something so despicable to a residence for blind people -- just totally inhumane - there are no words to describe that kind of slimeWoman Mad.  Can you imagine what those poor people must have felt!  What is happenning to mankind!

The speculation is some sort of construction debris or related items.

I hope no one was seriously hurt.  As for conspiracy theories.....explosions in trash cans don't happen accidentally.  Someone meant harm to others.  Hope they catch them.
