Re: Exploding Samsung Washing Machines-Top Loading Style

Oh I have one of those...no explosions yet but I think I will keep the laundry room door closed from now on.

Re: Exploding Samsung Washing Machines-Top Loading Style

Samsung is really taking a hit lately. We have a lot of Samsung products in our home and have had no problems, knock on wood.  Our washer and dryer are Samsung but my washer is a front loader.

My phone is an older Galaxy, our TVs are Samsung as is our Blu-Ray player.

They showed what happens on them and there is a rod type thing in the machine that loosens and works its way out of the machine when it spins on a high cycle.

Those washing machines really spin hard.  Mine is in the basement and it's up on the pedestals but I can tell you when they spin, I can hear them upstairs in my family room.  When we bought them we were told that they spin so fast/hard, it would rip your arm right off if you stuck it in there.  That's why the door locks and you can't get the machine open.  It honestly sounds like an airplane taking off.

Re: Exploding Samsung Washing Machines-Top Loading Style

I heard about this this morning and one woman said she had put large items in the wrong cycle or some such scenario.  Still exploding washing machines. I knew we were in trouble as a consumer when the delivery/installers left us with not only the paper work and instruction manual but a video to watch as well.

Remember the good old days when all you had to worry about was if the washing machine was going to eat any of your socks each day.

Sorry, but "exploding" washers?  Now how would that be possible?  I'm skeptical of this one.

You can google it.  There are photos of the machines that have exploded and how it happened.

@Lipstickdiva  OK!  I did.  Makes more sense.  The batteries can explode, but the washer can fly apart in the high spin setting.  That makes sense.  We have looked for a washer for a long time and either they are like the awful Sears one we have (top loader) or are too big and bulgy to fit our space.

Maybe I should just sent the laundry out???  LOL!!!!  Might save me money!

They more knock themselves apart than "explode" but the end result is largely the same. Samsung suspends the wash tub from four long bolts that fit into slotted brackets. A heavy, unbalanced load can cause the tub to wobble enough to walk one or more of those bolts free from its position and then the large, heavy tub spinning at a high rate of speed is loose inside the washer and knocks it to pieces. It's a very, very rare occurrence as their washers have been used for millions, likely tens of millions of wash cycles with relatively few incidents, but it gets the attention of the people who experience the problem. Whenever you have large heavy things moving at a high rate of speed, there's potential for disaster.
