Ok, this is what I get for grabbing a late night snack!
I got out the last slice of pound cake (store bought 3 or 4 days ago). It looked fine on the top, and felt soft (not stale), but dumb me didn't turn it over and look.
So I take a big bite and I swallow 1/2 to 3/4 of what is in my mouth, and I realize somethings wrong because it tastes horrible!
I immediately spit out the rest in the sink, check the rest of the slice and see it has MOLD on the bottom!
So,I go to the bathroom and immediately brush my teeth, mouth, and tongue, rinse and gargle with mouthwash! Now I'm sitting here grossed out wondering am I going to get sick.
This coming from someone (me), that used to work in the food industrry and tells their husband who has eaten (on more than 1 occasion) 5 day old leftovers, that hes going to get sick (and he never has because the food is still good). I even started checking the fridge and tossing things if they werent eaten within so many days so he wouldnt eat old food. From me who wont eat off anyone elses plate, or take a sip from anyone elses cup!
Yet I just ate mold. I dont know if I should laugh or cry. lol. But, .I wont be telling my husband.

I think you will be fine. A lot of us have made a sandwich and find out, almost at the end, it had mold on the bread. ![]()

I knowingly served my husband a pizza crust with mold (I don't like to waste) and told him it was char from the oven. He's fine. I figured baking it would neutralize things.
Guess you wouldn't come to my house for a meal, @Shorty2U! I understand, though, food poison is serious stuff. Hope you continue to feel OK. I'm sure I'd have been grossed out too.

The mold is harmless found in your home....stomach acid will neutralize it anyways

You probably breathe in more (aspergillis) spores than you've eaten. I wouldn't worry unless you are immunocompromised.

I've spit out something with mold, on more than one occasion, and nothing happened... Don't worry.

No you will not get sick. You could eat a lot worse than a bit of mold and not get sick. Relax... take a deep breath.... be calm.
