I don't know about her experience. That must have occurred during one of my breaks or before my time or perhaps in conjunction with one of the off boards.

However I do know that something similar happened to Heiress and I do know it also happened to Raven. Someone went so far as to call her place of employment and posted other personal info of Raven's here.

This is a big reason I don't do Facebook. It's not secure.

I don't know what happened in raven's case but heiress revealed a lot of info. And when people clicked on some photos she posted they were directed to a personal photobucket account (unsure if it was hers or someone else's) and could see everything that was in that account because the privacy settings were still on default. It isn't surprising that anyone who was curious could find out more.

Participating with others in cyberspace can be complicated. It isn't a place to be passive. You're only as secure as what you put out and making sure your security and privacy settings are dialed in and up to date demands an aggressive approach.

How does that make it right that they brought it here? The other poster was telling her story here and so I wanted to point out that it happened to at least 2 others. Just because someone wasn't aware of what could be found out by posting a picture doesn't give others license to run with that information in order to mock and humiliate.

It isn't an issue of ""does that make it right"". If you want to protect your information sit on your hands when the impulse to share TMI hits you. Everything has the potential to become someone's fodder. It is what it is. If there's any mocking and humiliating going on it's up to the moderator to handle it. To ask for certain behaviors from others is futile.

I think Heiress did that on purpose just to see what would happen. She's very crafty that way...

definitely agree on HIF. Raven gave out too much info though and a devoted ""fan"" was able to figure out where she workedSmiley Sad

Regarding the OP's question, I'm more concerned with her resurfacing after years of being inactive on the board. Did her other nic get banned?

What are you talking about, specifically, what? Exactly?

And, back it up.

I am only here recently because I was too busy to post before--hence the gap. I am only posting now because I was injured in an accident (pretty badly) and then Joan Rivers died and I wanted to buy a pin (which I did) and I ended up reading here and posting.

Also, for those asking about "hot linking" photos from other places. It is traceable.

Welcome back, ical. I hope you are recovering and feeling better. I, too, was gone for awhile and now that I have more free time, I post again.Smile

Just too much of a coincidence at times. Not you two of course.

Agree.

It's not hard to find out things when you announce where you work, where you live, things like that. It's very foolish to reveal things like that here.

I agree. I just wanted to remind people that it had happened to more that one person.

Not to speak for the OP but I'm not sure why you're concerned about that.

Does it matter?

It's easier to make a boogyman (in this case, woman) out of a poster, in some cases.

I'm not saying this is what is being done, but it's ingrained in the human psyche.

In other words, the way to rally a group is quickly accomplished upon finding and/or creating a "common enemy". Wars are agreed to by the masses using this basic principle. Even sales. "Buy this to get rid of that!"

Even if I weren't here, internet discernment is needed (the enemy is not using discernment). I'm just the messenger.

Care to explain because I don't quite understand what is a coincidence?

The issue may be some people when they first started posting here were new to posting. They had absolutely no idea the kind of people who post here and what they were capable of.{#emotions_dlg.crying}
