Re: Ever notice this about some of the threads?

I don't know about her experience. That must have occurred during one of my breaks or before my time or perhaps in conjunction with one of the off boards.

However I do know that something similar happened to Heiress and I do know it also happened to Raven. Someone went so far as to call her place of employment and posted other personal info of Raven's here.

This is a big reason I don't do Facebook. It's not secure.

Oh my gosh, scottie, that's horrible! I used to FB but felt it was just another place to make fun of people, gossip and keep noses in other people's business and things to hold against them- like they say, whatever you post on the internet stays on the internet.. and that's why I don't post anymore anything personal on this BB as it will come back to haunt ya.. amazing how people keep record of how another posts- geez they must have cabinets full of information on people they don't even know- reckon they work for the FBI or what?LOL

If you copy and paste a pic here from Facebook, how does someone trace back the photo to the Facebook account? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Regarding the OP's question, I'm more concerned with her resurfacing after years of being inactive on the board. Did her other nic get banned?

What are you talking about, specifically, what? Exactly?

And, back it up.

I am only here recently because I was too busy to post before--hence the gap. I am only posting now because I was injured in an accident (pretty badly) and then Joan Rivers died and I wanted to buy a pin (which I did) and I ended up reading here and posting.

Also, for those asking about "hot linking" photos from other places. It is traceable.

I don't know what happened in raven's case but heiress revealed a lot of info. And when people clicked on some photos she posted they were directed to a personal photobucket account (unsure if it was hers or someone else's) and could see everything that was in that account because the privacy settings were still on default. It isn't surprising that anyone who was curious could find out more.

Participating with others in cyberspace can be complicated. It isn't a place to be passive. You're only as secure as what you put out and making sure your security and privacy settings are dialed in and up to date demands an aggressive approach.

I think Heiress did that on purpose just to see what would happen. She's very crafty that way...

Not to speak for the OP but I'm not sure why you're concerned about that.

Does it matter?

How does that make it right that they brought it here? The other poster was telling her story here and so I wanted to point out that it happened to at least 2 others. Just because someone wasn't aware of what could be found out by posting a picture doesn't give others license to run with that information in order to mock and humiliate.

And don't forget, it works in reverse. Sometimes things are posted to see where they go and then to find the "problems". Sort of like letting things go and allowing those who want to be problems, even when warned, let be problems. The problems follow through with what they believe they are cleverly doing in "secret". But it's a trap, not a set up, they were warned and/or they agreed to terms of service.

Another thing. Copyright violations can pop up decades later, true? Remember the music industry going after even minors for taking copyrighted music, close to a decade later--and attaching upon the parent. So taking copyrighted photos or text or video like a free-for-all is going to be a problem, eventually. Especially since many e-sites (with their ad-linked urls) are going under. They will research why…and copyright violations will be uppermost on their reports.

The best thing is just to not worry, but be careful with info.

Welcome back, ical. I hope you are recovering and feeling better. I, too, was gone for awhile and now that I have more free time, I post again.Smile

Then why are you trying to do just that right here, right now? I don't recall any "mocking" or "humiliate" during that old saw. Curiosity, interest, definitely.
