It's funny reading these comments. For years my Dad used it in his coffee. I can remember him fixing a thermos of coffee to take to work. He'd add that to his coffee. I can see the can now. It had a white label with dark blue and red lettering, but for the life of me I can't remember the name.Smile Maybe Borden.

I think a lot of people used it in the 1960s--I know my mom did at times.

You may be thinking of Carnation evaporated milk.

Yes, Carnation! And, hey, carnations are my favorite flowers because of their beautiful scent!

We also had the 2 punch metal top thingy. My dad also like Tropicana OJ in a squirt can, he used it in his tea. Not sure what it was supposed to be for. Or molasses or honey in his tea.

My husband and I got into the habit years ago because we vacationed in Barbados for 20yrs+ and their coffee there was outstanding! Between the use of raw sugar and yes evap milk, I could drink their coffee all day long it was that good!!! Of course I didn't but yes it turned us into coffee drinkers with raw sugar & evap milk at home.

Well after looking at the HIGH caloric count in evap milk we stopped using evap milk. There are much fewer calories in many coffee creamers on the market and because they're better I don't even need/use sugar in my java. I also only have one cup per day - maybe one and a half (top up).

You won't find evap milk in our house anymore. Hubby uses half & half, I like the flavored creamers. No powered ones either.

Yes...it's my preferred lightener for coffee. Don't like the coffee "creamers", don't like regular milk (too thin.) Having said that, it's pretty high in calories, so I use it for a treat, and drink my coffee black most of the time. I make sure my second cup during the day is always black, no sugar.
