Don't worry, anyone who uses email is as current as the other electronic methods. The message no matter which medium used gets there just as fast (email vs, text). It's just that texting is more appropriate for an interactive conversation using more abbreviations and is more real time -- whereas with email you may wait to look in your mailbox for new messages.
I refuse to consider myself a dinasaur because I like to get all my thoughts down in written communication. Otherwise I actually prefer voice communication. That probabkly makes me a dinasaur too, lol
IMO the texting, snapchat, etc... is making us lose our communication skills.

I was waiting to pick up a friend at the airport and there were 4 early 20's folks, who were together, sitting on a bench, near me. Not one of them actually looked up from their phones for more than a few seconds and there was almost no verbal communication between them. However, it was quite evident from their animated gestures and laughs etc that they were literally texting and sending pictures back and forth. It was as ridiculous as you can get - sitting right next to someone, texting with them rather than actually speaking. When the plane they were waiting on was announced, they all got up and walked off, heads down, still playing with the phones.

I send texts to people in my house all the time. Sometimes it's better than getting up and walking up or down 2-3 flights of stairs, and it sure beats yelling. It's also faster than the intercom. With WiFi I can send messages from my iPad, so that makes it easy when my cell phone isn't with me.
I find texting gets a fast response, so I don't bother with Twitter direct messages or Snapchat when it comes to contacting family, but I do Twitter message colleagues because it's faster than email and I don't have everyone's phone numbers. Many companies have Twitter and Snapchat accounts. Even Scholastic advertises their Snapchat to kids.

If I want to talk to someone, I call them on the phone.

Thanks everyone. No wonder I don't hear from anyone anymore. I call and no one answers. I email and no one answers. Gotta get into the TEXT thing. ![]()
One of my daughters has a text feature that talks. She has Verizon and a Samsung phone. Wondering if that is a function of Verizon or her phone (Android). I have a more expensive phone a year old. Wondering if I have to find a new phone. Real cool, awesome feature.

I only text. All children and grandchildren respond immediately as well as other family members and friends.
Email takes to long for others to check! We all text .

But this one stunned me.
EMAIL IS NOT THEIR METHOD OF CHOICE TO COMMUNICATE, ANYMORE.
I was told to USE TWITTER, OR SNAPCHAT, OR TEXT OR WHATEVER....
Am I so out of touch? I thought email was the replacement for mailing letters or using the phone to actually call someone.
However my granddaughter did TEXT my daugher, her mother, who was upstairs to bring her down a sweater.
I must be really getting old.
@bonnielu My DD texts but it arrives in my email as I do not text. She sends them through her phone.

I use text messaging by way of my iPhone. Much faster and better than email.

I am not a fast texter. I write words and sentences and worry about punctuation, lol. It's better for me to email if the person doesn't want to speak on the phone.
