Re: Earthquake in California

[ Edited ]

@Kachina624

Watching the news this morning at 4:30 a.m. (in Maryland) and heard about it.

It made me remember the quake we had in and around Washington, DC, August 23, 2011. The 5.8 magnitude earthquake, with its epicenter near Mineral, Virginia, caused considerable damage throughout the region.

It was mid afternoon and I felt the floor rolling.  My hall and dining room chandeliers were swinging.  I just couldn't figure out what was happening until it was over.

My cleaning ladies were on the staircase and began  screaming as they ran out of the house.

Such a strange, surrealistic feeling!

@ThinkingOutLoud   I think it was  nightowlz who made the ridiculous remark.   There is always someone ready to take a swipe at California.  It's really juvenile.  Consider the source.  I love CA.  Wouldn't live anywhere else

I completely disagree! One was a general comment, the other was a personal attack. Big difference.

Yesterday  my post  was about a comment ... not a personal attack. You all went off about with your consider the source routine with other added offensive remarks.

You picks and choose what is a personal attack.  Read more carefully of  what a perception is of a comment.  @Teddixat  knew excactly how the insult intended.  It was obvious

People who live in California are probably HAPPY that you don't. Woman LOLWoman LOLWoman LOL

@layla2450  Your comment says a lot more about you than it does @nightowlz. Just sayin.

@Nightowlz LOL. I spent my first 61 years in Southern California and circumstances caused me to move to WA state but I still love California. And you couldn't pay me to live in Oklahoma, not at all. Went through there once years ago. No thanks.

@Love my grandkids

I have lived here for 53 yrs now. DH was born here. It's the first I have lived in a house not on a military base. My dad was in the Air Force. We moved about every 4 yrs.

We did spend several days layover in Anaheim on the way to & from Hawaii.

We went to Disneyland where I remember seeing Bewitched pregnant. We also went to Knots Berry Farm.

@Nightowlz Were you here for the "big one" 5.7 we had?  Wow shook us for 40 seconds in 2011. Our chandelier was swinging like crazy and the noise was pretty loud.  Scared me!

@Sooner

I vaguley remember that one happening it was so long ago. Since we are a couple hours north we didn't feel it.

I don't like that feeling of the ground under my feet moving? It's a little eerie.

@NightowlzCA is a big state.  I live in northern CA and in my 64 years have never experienced any natural disaster other than mild after shocks from SF earthquakes.

@spumoni99

I'm not sure where in the State they have more earthquakes.

My SIL lives south of Fresno. She said they have never had one. I have been in OK for 53 yrs. Never saw a Tornado. DH has seen one.

We did have a flood here years ago. Nothing like what you see today.

@Nightowlz

LOL, I feel the same way about places that get hurricanes and tornadoes every single year.

Communities get destroyed, people die  .....  and yet, they stay.

@Tinkrbl44

I wanted to move to Fl. Not anymore. Hurricanes, cost of insurance etc. We don't have hurricanes here.

I wouldn't live in Ca for the same reason, earthquakes, cost of living.

I don't know how people stay in the areas the keep getting hit?
