Someone had to feel that unless it's in an unpopulated area.
I wouldn't live in Ca if you paid me.
People who live in California are probably HAPPY that you don't. ![]()

Every state has its thing. Since the Loma Prieta quake in 1989, California has come so far in earthquake building codes, and preparedness. Most old buildings and new homes, malls and such have been retro fitted for earthquake strength. I don't think I would like anything with water damage, like hurricanes and floods myself. Although Calif has its share of floods and mudslides, I haven't experienced it. I know those prone areas ,and steer clear myself. I think those of you that grew up with this stuff just get used to it, and deal. Tough. In California we usually get scared, do our earthquake , wait for a few secs and prepare ourselves. Then, when over we call family and quess the size of quake. lol. The loma quake was a terror. It was so wide spread , people lost lives sadly.but th quake effected millions of people. San Jose alone had a population of over a million

I live in California and wild fires frighten me far more than earthquakes. I was on the phone when the emergency alert message blared through on my cell phone, then the shaking started. While I felt it, the shaking didn't last very long for my area. I am about 100 miles northwest of the epicenter.

@Marp Thank you so much for posting about the elephants. I just viewed it. I have always loved elephants and am amazed how they take care of each other.

Most animals definitely have better senses than humans. I've lived in the SF bay area for 40 years and have always had pets. They sensed the Loma Prieta earthquake here in 1989 as well as every other minor tremor before and after. They head for shelter as we are told to do. Animals are smarter than we give them credit for. As others have posted, I don't want to live anywhere else in this lifetime.

@Linmo , I lived in Orange County growing up. We had a cockatiel. Out of the blue the bird would ****** his head and flip upside down and look at the bottom of his cage..that was our sign and sure enough, a tremor would follow.

LOL, I feel the same way about places that get hurricanes and tornadoes every single year.
Communities get destroyed, people die ..... and yet, they stay.
