That's interesting. I never knew that.
I see eagles all of the time in the summer months.
I am afraid of them. I have personally seen them grab a fish or duck out of a lake and also swoop down to grab rabbits, small dogs and cats.
We do not allow our dogs outside alone.
I do enjoy watching them with binoculars feeding their young in their nests, that are huge. It is also fun to watch their young learning to fly.
They look so small when flying. But, they are powerful.

Hi @Kachina624 ![]()
Wow. WOW! Dramatic Eagle changes with progressive age. ![]()
For "relaxation," my former College Buddy ushered me off to a borrowed, woodsy cabin, nestled in quite a woodsy area.
Wide-eyed & tentative already with everything so foreign to me, I was outdoors, cooking our steaks on a basic outdoor grill, & using a big BBQ fork, I was flipping the steaks, and this EAGLE came swooping down, over my shoulder, aimed to yanking the steak off my raised BBQ fork.
Scared the ***p out of me!! It was MASSIVE, esp wings totally spread out, & dive-bombing my steak!! Faster than light, I went running inside, & told my College Buddy - "You want steak, you cook it. Im outta there."
First hand, I could see how Eagles are so Regal. Heck, you wont see me arguing with'em.

Are you seeing flocks of migrating birds right now? I have seen a lot here...and am wondering if they are unseasonally coming from CA because of the fires...? di

Thanks for posting! Learned something. I occasionally see a bird that looks like the 2 1/2!
To think I almost did not open this because I thought it would be about the Philadelphia Eagles football team! Yes, I am a fan but right not the media is on fan overload!🦅💚

I'm definitely an Eagle lover and basic bird nerd!!
Photography is my hobby so I'm always on the look out for them. Got this one a couple days ago!

If anyone is interested there are many eagle nests across the country with live cameras, most are 24/7, 365 days a year, some have thousands of followers, some have live scrolling chats under the video with moderators, some have Facebook pages, and some have web sites. Some currently have eggs they are brooding, some have eaglets already hatched, and some have not laid their eggs yet for the season. I know of 2 in Florida, 1 in DC, a couple in LA, one in Iowa, 2 in CA, and 4 in the CA Channel islands. You can go to 'youtube dot com' and once there use their search bar to type in something like "live eagle nest cameras" and look through results or search that same phrase and include your state name and something high come up in your state. If you want more specific info let me know and I can provide specific names. I have been closely following several nests through their joys, struggles and sadness for several years.
