That's not always the case, but it is most of the time. Serena Williams doesn't lend her name for anything. She did in fact study the trade. I can't think of any others (oops Melissa McCarthy too).
There are soooo many though. Some who pair up with cosmetic companies and more.
Sarah Jessica Parker and her shoes (you will never see them on a shopping channel)
Stella McCartney for Adidas (and her expensive fake leather handbags won't be on any shopping network)
Kylie and Kendall shoes (you might not ever see on a shopping channel.
Paris Hilton
NeNe Leakes
Wendy Williams
Sean John (P Diddy) you won't see on a shopping channel
Guliana Rancic
Vaness Williams
Holly Robinson Pete
Carson by Carson Kressley
Fergie's Fergalicious
Juliana Hough
Michael Buble
Lisa Rinna
Baby Phat (Russel Simmons ~ now defunct) but it had a nice long run
Jennifer Lopez at Kohl's
Jennifer Hudson for New York and Company
Eva Mendez for New York and Company
Carlos by Carlos Santana
Nick Veroses
Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. (you will not see on a shopping channel)
Victoria Beckham (you will not see on a shopping channel)
Jay Z (Rockefella) ~ defunct
Beyonce ~ Blue Ivy selling on Nordies (you will not see this on a shopping channel)
Khloe Kardashian Jeans "The Good American" slated for Nordstroms in one week (you will not see on a shopping channel
Another exception to this is Jessica Simpson (we all know she didn't go to any design school but she's doing well under the Vince Camuto umbrella.
Yes a lot of celebrities put their name on products it doesn't matter whether they show it on a shopping channel or not---Yes some may be very particular on which products and the manufacturer who uses their name but who is the actual hands on designer/developer......do the celebrities you mention just turn the whole kit and kaboodle to someone else to handle product development....that's the question here??? Serena may be an exception like Joan and really involved in the designers....but I've seen too many of these "celebrities" talk about their "design team" that came up with their products.......Recently one that was hawking her perfume on a talk show.....even said "they came up with this wonderful fragrance for me".......apparently she did not even suggest what type of scent she wanted in her perfume so they just came up with it and slapped her name on it! .........That's like Michael Jordan sneakers....he just gave his name to Nike to put on one of their sneakers and they charge big bucks to use his name....That's what I'm saying, and that's why celebrity endorsements mean nothig to me
If you enjoy the celebrity products more power to you, but I'm just not into today's celebrity scene......and I won't buy anything just because the manufacturer slappped someone's name on something.....To me today's so called celebrities aren't like those in the past that were really glamorous, designed their own clothes and set the fashion trends....today's "celebrities" are more involved in reality shows and doing those types of shows emphasizes and tells me they will do anything for a buck.....

I don't know who Ita is, but winter is my favorite season. I feel trapped in heat all summer and onky start to perk up in fall. I will be invigorated and happy til late spring now!

@Spurt I'm sure every single one I mentioned except McCarthy and Serena Williams turns over the whole thing for someone else to develop. Serena plays a significant role in her clothing line. How in the world can she be developing everything on her own with a schedule such as hers? Like I said, even from those who might wind up at a shopping station to those who never will, most don't have any design experience. Most brand names (no matter whose) have apprentices and people who work under them. Chanel is not designing for the Brand. Think Dennis Basso is sitting around designing his garments?
One more exception is Antthony Mark Hankins on HSN. He is a designer by trade.
These clothing vendors mostly fall under another umbrella company. Jessica Simpson, I'm sure has a good hand in her overall business. However, it is run under The Vince Camuto Brands. So is whatever Ellen Degeneres sells.
Unfortunately celebrity brands are not necessarily for older more conservative folk. They aren't trying to dress them. This is just an opinion I have nothing to back it up except for what they are offering for sale. Millenials.....
Finally, of course you're supposed to buy what you want! No one can force you or me to buy something that is not desired. Who said that? I named so many of the celebrity brands (I didn't scratch the surface). My point is they are selling clothes! So obviously it's working for them.

I don't know, I shop less and less with the Q because of the high prices. I like Evine's bedding, sales, jewelry, Beekman, Borghese. I think I shop more on HSN and Evine then I do on the Q.

I like Evine and I am happy to know who owns it.

It's traded on NASDAQ, publicly owned.

@Caaareful Shopper Yeah, what a shame that they have to hoof it to PA, FL, or MN. They go to Paris, Rome, etc, why can't they go to these other places. If there's anything I won't buy, it's a product with some celeb's name plastered on it that she doesn't even use herself. I also wouldn't want evine to change-they find the best cosmetics-stuff people have never even heard of but have stood the test of time. Oh, well, I sure can't stop them.

I do not really care where they air from. I like their Isomers, Gems En Vogue and One World lines.
I guess if is not New York or L A, most people think it is out of the way for them. Why? I have no idea ...
Whatever... if these shopping networkS do not change some of their offerings - then I really do not think it matters where they are... bottom line is - people will just go elsewhere for their shopping needs and wants.

I call it the WATCH CHANNEL, and not because I watch them! If they want to compete, they'll need to have a more interesting line up and better product offering. They are Invicta watches (I know they are owned by them) day after day after day, hour after hour. This channel is a snooze fest IMO, except for the Beekman Boys and Skinn. The rest is the same line up constantly and a lot of cheap looking products. I also hear their CS is awful, so they may need to improve that as well. Complete overhaul.

@Cats3000 wrote:Our cable system dropped that channel quite a while ago. I'm not up do date. What happened to Kathy Levine? "EVINE LIVE" was supposedly derived from her name and she was the "front-person" for the operation. Is she gone?
I don't think this was ever really the case. I think posters took that and ran with it. Kathy isn't even with that station anymore, in any capacity.
She started there with the name change and was supposed to be sort of like a roving reporter/hostess. I don't think we ever saw her in that capacity again after the big NYC launch.
She had a clothing line that I believe aired one time and that was it. During an interview with LR on FB, Kathy said her line was up and ready to go and TPTB at Evine pulled it and said it was too costly to manufacture.
If she was a big wig or "name" behind Evine, her own line would have gone forward.
