Re: EVER GOT TIRED OF HAVING LONG HAIR?

Mine is down to my waist and I have said I would probably cut it to shoulder level when I turn 60.  That will be at Christmas this year and I am rethinking my plans.  I do love my long hair and for the most part of my life it as always been at my waist.  I got crazy a couple of times and went short (above the shoulders) and just hated it.

Re: EVER GOT TIRED OF HAVING LONG HAIR?

I've had long hair for a long time and it's starting to thin out terribly since I've gotten older.  I need to get it cut and restyled so I can hide my receding hairline!  Besides that, I'm tired of having to braid it every night and every time I go to the fitness center, getting it caught in my coat zipper, rolling up in the seat belt in the car (ouch!), and getting in my way every time I lean over.  Not to mention how long it takes to wash and dry.

My husband loves my long hair and I'll admit I'll miss just pulling it back in a clip when I'm in a hurry.  I'm not sure I'll enjoy going back to a curling iron and having to style my hair every time I go out.  But it's getting thin and I have to do something or I'll end up bald!

So...really mixed feelings on this topic.  Woman Frustrated

Re: EVER GOT TIRED OF HAVING LONG HAIR?

When I was about 10 years old I had hair to my waist.  My mother would braid it which was fine but when she pulled the braids out, I hated it.  One summer I was tired of the pulling and asked for a hair cut (we were out in the country on vacation) so my dad and mom took me into town and my hair was cut like a blunt cut below my ears.  No more pulling.  Now I could not be bothered with long hair.

This happens to me at least two to three times a year. When I was 14years old I cut my hair in the Beatles style. Of course my parents didn't like what I did it but I just couldn't stand it.

I don't think anyone understands. If my hair gets below my shoulder, I have to cut it. I feel so overwhelmed and it's as if I'm in a cage.

Last week I was out shopping and walked into a Salon and asked a stylist to please cut my hair. Showed her how short and she did it and I walked out feeling a lot better. Now I don't have to put it in a ponytail at night. It's just above my neck and I love it.

Has anyone else have similiar problems with their hair?

@Sage04   I understand. I've had a short/pixie cut most of my adult life...mainly to manage my curls. After my kids were born, my hair texture changed to softer curls/waves and I grew my hair out to above shoulder length. I wasn't sure what to do with it...hot rollers, curling irons, velcro rollers, barettes, headbands...lots of stuff to use to style it and get used to long hair. Eventually I cut it off short again.

Now I grew it out again about 2 yrs. ago. I began growing out the 2" long layers and my hair's mid-neck to shoulder length and I like it....a love/hate relationship. I have tried a lot of styling products and techniques that weren't necessary with my short hair...just a little mousse out of the shower, air dry while putting on makeup and finished.

I've decided to not fight the curls/waves and let them do their thing. I add a bit of gel and Moroccan Oil...love their hydrating and volumizing S&C, too. They have a wonderful volumizing mousse that doesn't get crunchy because of the oils in it. No, none of the products weigh down my hair.

They say "variety is the spice of life". I have the freedom to try more styles w/ longer hair and so far plan on keeping the length and maybe another inch. Being petite, I cannot go too much longer or it would over power my frame. Ask me in 6 months and I may have short hair again. LOL

I have not had short hair since I was 18 years old.  I would never have long hair at my age or even close to my age.

My first cousin, my age, has long hair.  She looks ridiculous with that stringy looking mess.  It makes her look much older.

I haven't had long hair since my late 20's. If I thought it would look good on me I may consider it. Some people look great with long hair no matter what their age is.

Re: EVER GOT TIRED OF HAVING LONG HAIR?

i have long hair, 20" from crown to tip and when it gets to me or its too sticky out, i pull it back. 'im too neurotic to chop it off plus  hate going to the salon, i get too anxious.   it can be a pain -  too much texture and waves and frizz in summer, but the weight of it keeps the poof down.  i've had short bob type cuts twice and let them grow out because i cannot bow-out my hair super staright and sleek when short.

the bob cuts looked amazing at the salon but i look like a mushroom doing my own styling.(have a huge cabinet full of every "miracle" styling product!)  i don't like how i look from the back with my short hair either. i have broad shoulders and it looks like helmet head.  Linebacker lol.

Re: EVER GOT TIRED OF HAVING LONG HAIR?

I have very long hair.  It's not Crystal Gayle long, but it's half to 2/3 of the way down my butt.    I always get a lot of compliments about my hair, which is very nice, but sometimes it gets tiresome.   My hair is thick so, depending on what I do with it (using hair bands, clips, etc) it can get a bit heavy.

Every now and then I wish I would just hack it all off.  But, due to cowliks (don't know how to spell that), I totally could NOT do short hair.  Plus, once you get a haircut you need to keep it up so, over all, it's easier to just have it all one length.  Every now and then I trim it a bit to keep it healthy.

The weirdest thing - I always had that awful stick-straight hair.  For several years I used to get a spiral perm.  That was always cumbersome because she would have to borrow everybody else's roller-things because my hair took over 100 of them.    Oh, anyway, the weird part is that even though I haven't had a spiral perm since early in 1999, now my hair has body and some curl.  I really do like that a lot, as I hated that stick-straight hair.   I just don't understand why it changed but sure glad it did!  Smiley Happy

Re: EVER GOT TIRED OF HAVING LONG HAIR?

yes.

I have been just letting my hair grow since 2014. It is now half way down my back. I trim the ends every so often. I just wear it up on top of my head as I do not want it in my face... too much work to wear down.  Shorter hair requires trims and monthly appointments to the hair stylist which I HATE. So it is just easy to keep it long and not have to deal with upkeep.  I am not lazy... use to go to the stylist for hair cuts all the time... Just do not want to deal with that anymore.
