Biker Babe: I know what you mean.......Growing up, my mom used to give me Lilt permanents. I guess I didn't know how to say 'No' way back in those days.
Just thinking about it makes me re-live the terrible odor........Nauseating, for sure.

I have worn my hair long for most of my life. It has been past my shoulders many times, but, I try to keep it blunt cut at my shoulders with some layering since it is thick. It is silver gray in color.
I don't like short, spiky hair on anyone.

I recently had 4" cut off and my hair is now a couple inches past my shoulders. I too couldn't stand the extremely long length anymore. It looks and feels so much better.

I have been just letting my hair grow since 2014. It is now half way down my back. I trim the ends every so often. I just wear it up on top of my head as I do not want it in my face... too much work to wear down. Shorter hair requires trims and monthly appointments to the hair stylist which I HATE. So it is just easy to keep it long and not have to deal with upkeep. I am not lazy... use to go to the stylist for hair cuts all the time... Just do not want to deal with that anymore.
You know how you sort of form a mental picture in your mind of someone you have never met? Well, I just need to say that after reading your comment, I am surprised that you have long hair. For some reason, I imagined you to be a short hair person. Crazy, huh? I do agree with you on regular trips to a salon - I hate it, as well. I'm always worried that the stylist will cut too much off. They always turn me away from the mirror and I can't see what they are doing.😯😯

I have empathy for you! I always had extremely thick and shiny hair! Within the last 2 years it has thinned so much and gotten rather fragile. It's heartbreaking when you have been known your whole life for your long and healthy hair! Mine was almost down to my waist again -- since the virus thing -- and I just got several inches trimmed off because it was very damaged. It is still below my bust. I never thought I would have this issue but here it is! All the women in my family had very thick and luxurious hair and with age, we've all gotten the same issues --- thinning, fragile and dry hair! I am still going to wear it this way for awhile yet . My husband also loves my hair long and I enjoy the ease of clipping it up when I am doing chores and/or it's hot. Plus, as I've said earlier, I am not good at styling at all. Just another cruel aspect of aging which some of us have to deal with, I guess!

So true! I've always had rather limp, fine hair so it's no surprise that I'm losing it in my old age! It's worse for you, having had thick beautiful hair all your life and now having the thinning problem. I feel your pain! ![]()

I like my long hair and it is the easiest for me. As growing up with a "want to be beautician sister" I endured many terrible hacks and embarrassments. Now with my poker straight hair, no layered or styled hair cut works. I just make sure I trim the ends monthly. I also color my own hair. I'm sorry but I will not pay the salon prices. JMO

Same here. I have very thick long hair past my shoulders. I always pull it back at work and in the hot weather. In the winter it keeps my neck warm. ![]()
