I'm thinking about purchasing a Kindle or ereader in addition to having an ipad.  I had read that the lighting on the ereaders is less apt to keep you up at night.

I can change the background on my iPad to a greenish tint for reading at night.

I enjoyed the Paperwhite for years but have switched to the mini iPad.

The worst part of e readers is that they don't stimulate the brain like regular books.

@Blahblahvampemer, that is not a logical statement.  Can you back that up with a source, please?

It looks like Amazon has better deals on ebooks.  Some are free!  Everyday "Bookbub" SENDS AN EMAIL with low prices. And apparently Amazon is in first place with special deals.   I do like the Paperwhite as well.  But I use the apps for reading oawwn my other tablets..  I have the Samsung Nook.  It is very a basic Android and slow.  I paid approximately  $120.

I have to vote for a tablet too.Have a kindle and an ipad and hands down--the ipad takes the cake. Kindle is ok for the basics but not much else--have had 3 of them and barely use any of them . I use my Ipad constantly. big price difference of course and actually my DD uses her paperwhite all the time.

FYI there is a setting on your iPads to take the blue shade out. It’s in settings under “Display”.

I have two Paperwhite Kindles and the Kindle app on my laptop, android and iPhone  Also an old original KIndle where I keep reference material downloaded.

I can move my content around to whichever deviice I want to use.  The android and laptop apps are great for cookbooks and craft books.  Kindles and iPhone for reading.

I wouldn't even consider another type of device.

I would get another Kindle, would not consider a Nook.  Go the stores and make your own comparison to the products. See for yourself which appeals to you. My vote is the Kindle.

I have a laptop and an iPad but like my Paperwhite for reading.

Make sure you use the OverDrive/Libby app for books.  All free based on your library card and the selection is SO vast.  I was looking today and there over 34,000 fiction titles.  Easy to get lost in them.

@Toot1920 :  Fire has a "blue shade" setting for reading at night.

You convinced me that a Paperwhite was the way to go, I bought one today and I'm a happy reader again!  Smiley Happy
