One year after the warranty expired, my six-year old Dyson completely died. I used the HECK out of it but was still disappointed that, for the money, it didn't last longer.

Then I purchased a DC33 and was completely unable to use the attachments unless I had somebody hold on to the vacuum while I wrestled with the hose. Otherwise, the hose would not stretch far at all and the vacuum slammed into me constantly.

So I exchanged it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for another DC33 thinking I had just purchased a lemon. Exact same problem.

Then I gave up and exchanged that one for a DC 23 Turbinehead Canister. This model works great on bare floors and is really good for getting under and around things. However, it has never seemed to pick up much from my rugs and carpet.

This afternoon as an experiment, I vacuumed first with the DC 23 and then went back over all the same areas with my daughter and future son-in-law's Shark vacuum. I was shocked at all the dirt that the Dyson missed but the Shark picked up.

Now I have to figure out what to do next. I absolutely have to have a good vacuum because I am a clean freak, and I must have attachments that work. I want a Dyson but don't think I can justify keeping this one and buying another one just for rugs and carpet.

Anybody have a similar experience with Dyson?
