As I’m remembering back to when we took our kids on one, and watching these awful videos, I’m not sure even with a life vest you could get out of that boat..it has a roof on the top, the sides are up with small windows, I believe it has a door kind of like a school bus, and once the water starts coming in the door would be inoperable....obviously if you were to get out the life vest would save you, but getting out of that contraption would be tough...so heart breaking...

@Karie2022  -  Not sure if it applies to the boat that sank, but had read where these boats have plastic windows which velcro onto the boat so they can be removed.  If that's true, and depending on how they're attached, as the boat was sinking, it may have been difficult to remove.  If you did get out but couldn't get away from the boat quick enough, it would start sucking you down into the water.  This is just so awful, I can't imagine.  We know a family in which twelve members were killed.  I just can't figure out how you pick up the pieces with all of them gone.

Very good explanations of the inherent safety flaws in duck boats and improvements being considered. In the recent incident in Branson, the weather forecast was quite threatening andvthe tour should have been canceled. This was a case of poor judgment and a dangerous vehicle/vessel.

We have ducks in Seattle and went thru a tragic thing a few years ago, when a duck had mechanical issues and ran into a bus on a bridge, killing 5 and injuring many more, most of them college exchange kids---horrible---- Not a fan of them and won't be riding them ever.

Some safety professional said they are death traps in the water because if they do submerge,  the canopy on top can’t be removed and traps people under water, so they drown despite a life jacket.    I have enjoyed these rides in Boston and DC, but never again....

@FlowerBearThe captain knew that there were severe thunderstorm warnings but since the sky was blue, he decided to take out the duck.

There was a miracle because a family of nine did survived. The family is grappling with survivor's guilt. So sad for everyone.

The GoFundMe account has a lot of donations.

I just can’t imagine the pain Tia Coleman must be feeling.
