It surprised me.  I was on a duck boat in the Wisconsin Dells and it's on wheels on ground and then drives into the lake.  It is hard to believe it did sink,  So sad for the victims.

Big waves - now at the bottom in 40 ft of water.  Wheels carried it a few feet from sinking location.  Storm = waves

Many children on the boat.

So heartbreaking.

I have never heard of a duck boat before, I had to Google it.  It looks like the weather was pretty bad.  I have tickets purchased for a riverboat ride tomorrow (not a duck boat).  The first thing I will do when I get on board is locate the life preservers!

We had a tragic incident with this same type of duck boat  driven on land on a bridge a couple years ago in Seattle. At least 5 people lost  their lives in the crash...many injured.

An axel broke on the  duck boat.....  it crashed into a tourist bus full of visitors.....The company who runs this  duck boat tourist business seems to have a lot of accidents.

I went on a  duck boat many years ago in Memphis on the Mississippi.   The weather was nice but the ride was not what I expected.   The guy driving didn't seem professional and I was glad when the trip was over and we were back on dry land.

There were several duck boats out at the same time in Missouri, do we know why this one sunk?

In a storm you have to run  parallel to the land, driving into waves to avoid being turned over.

Horrible tragedy.
