  • I have had that experience in the past and it's very unsettling.  It would stay with me for days.  I never spoke to anyone about it because I didn't want to say the words out loud.  Talking about it would make it feel real.  That was a long time ago but I had a couple of episodes like that.  I had one of those dreams when I was 5 or 6 and I still remember it!  Every second of it.  It was terrifying.   For years, I thought it was real.  I was a teenager when I realized it had been a terrible dream.

@LdyBugz

Isn't it interesting? I had these as a small child. The scene I remember vividly was falling out of a window against a brick backdrop ... looking up I saw a man made up like a woman (creepy). I told my mom about this dream a few years later and she said

"we lived in a brick apartment building when we lived in Wilmington Delaware and there was a man there that you liked to talk to (?). Then she shuddered!

🤷🏼‍♀️

Here's a couple for you.

The doctor wanted to help me find an antidepressant that I could tolerate. Each time I would have side effects and he would say "Don't continue with that one. I have an entire closet full of different ones and we will find one that works for you".

So I took a new one once and that very same night I had what they call a "night terror". I thought I was awake but couldn't wake up... it was terrifying! I got stuck in the kitchen sink and couldn't wake up to get out of there!

Another terrifying dream (nightmare) was somehow in a hotel bathroom and a scary dark figure with long devilish fingers was grabbing me!👀👻👽

When I was much younger, I used to have dreams where someone is chasing me and I am running so fast then all of a sudden I start to float above the tree tops and laughing, ha, ha, can't catch me now, but that's it, end of dream.

I have very vivid dreams just about every night, I have a dream book that I write my dreams in. Some are about destruction all around the world and some of desolation in America. I don't know how to interpret them, so I just write them down.

A friend has night terrors so bad he sometimes wakes his wife up with his yelling. He also has sleep paralysis. Poor guy.

I sometimes have dreams about a deceased family member. Mostly my father but others occasionally.

I read that when you have something serious coming up, like a medical/dental  appointment, then the anxiety can make you have bad dreams. I believe it.

I had a ex that had dreams that he was in some sort of altercation with someone every night and he would start yelling out in his sleep, rise up and argue with someone then lay back down. One night he was arguing and he rose up and punched me hard in my shoulder and after realizing what he had done it woke him up and he apologized. That was the end of our relationship ! I told him he needed to see his doctor.

@chrystaltree  I understand exactly you mean as I had a dream at about the same age that scared me to death.

I walked along a long, twisting road with woods on both sides to get to my friend's house.  I would call it desolate.

Why on earth my mother let me travel that road by myself at that age is beyond me.

In any event, in the dream, I am on that road and 3 men dressed ala the Three Musketeers were in the middle of road with swords drawn.  I was scared to death and ran for my life.  Thank heavens, at that point, I woke up.

I was afraid for weeks afterward and never walked that road alone again.

I WILL remember that dream until my dying day and I was 6.

It is interesting how some seem to have their dreams stay with them and other do not, possibly not even remembering the next day.
