Yes, I do have vivid, horrible dreams I can't shake. I attribute the vivid dreams I have to taking too much melatonin prior to bedtime. I have to limit myself to less than 5 mg of melatonin.
My dreams usually involve getting lost at some weird place and having no money, no phone and no idea how to escape. And by weird, I mean improbable locations that then morph into some other even stranger place. All in blasted color. Ugh.

The last 2 1/2 years I have had 3 horrible losses in my life. I have a very hard time getting any sleep but when I do get a few hours those hours are filled with terrible frightening dreams. AND most definitaley add to my already stress filled day.

My father kept a "dream book." I remember him telling us that certain things in dreams have meanings in real life like if you dream about fishes or one appears in your dream, it means $$$ will be coming your way. He kept that pamphlet on his bedroom dresser.
My parents bedroom was off limits to us so we never read it. Just knew it was there.

@DRUMPF I am sorry for your losses.
I understand how hard it is for sleep to come under so much stress.
I wish you sweet dreams ahead.

😴 I always dream. It doesn't matter whether I'm nodding off for a fifteen minute nap, or a full night's sleep, I dream. And I've also had some of those very unsettling dreams, and always am so grateful to wake up and realize it was only a dream. Yet that dream can often haunt you for the rest of the day. It's even worse if when you awaken, it's still dark outside.
Strange how the human mind functions.

@PA Mom-mom wrote:@Mersha I usually get them if I wake up at 4 am or 5 am and go back to sleep for an hour. I know what's coming when I go back to sleep. I should just get up instead. On the other hand, your dreams are sometimes your subconscious speaking to your conscience. If my bad dream involves a series of impossibly frustrating events, I try to think of what is currently frustrating me and try to work through it.
@PA Mom-mom That is exactly what happened to me.
I woke up then dozed off again and the dream came.
It was something frightening I needed to accomplish but it made no sense and seemed absurd.
Hopefully, tonight I will be dream free or have the wonderful one where my dad is sitting on the moon smiling at me.

Ever since I started taking a magnesium supp for my bones, I've been having really deep sleep and very vivid dreams. Magnesium induces deep sleep throughout the whole night. I love it.

📖 I was once told to keep a diary of my dreams, and to immediately record the dream when I woke, because otherwise you won't remember them. In some instances I have often found that to be true, but the ones that scare the holy h*ll out of me seem to linger forever.
By the way, I never bothered to record a single one.
🤔 Perhaps if I consumed Chocolate, The Great Healer, before bedtime .......

My dreams are just too weird. However, I do have recurring themes. I should never get on an elevator in a dream. I know that, but I do it anyways.
When I was younger I was convinced I was going to die driving off a bridge, so much so that whenever possible I would drive the center line over bridges.
@SilleeMee what type of magnesium are you taking?

I usually have dreams but I cannot remember them.....long ago I had a book on dreams and what their definitions were, very interesting, loaned it to a girlfriend and when I asked for it back months later, she could not locate it.
