Had something odd happen yesterday.
Had to take my mom 70 miles into the big city to a doctor's appointment. It was very late in the day (5:30 pm), and the office was at minimal staff. Very large office, very high end area and office. Still, even at that later hour, I'd estimate we saw a dozen health care professionals still working.
We had to be masked and temps taken to get in, no issue with that. All health care providers were wearing masks, no issues with that.
But the housekeeping (janitorial) staff was working, mopping floors, emptying trash, and doing other what I would assume is nightly cleaning. Not one of them had masks on.
We were not the only patients in the building, we saw at least a half a dozen others during our time there. My mom noticed it first and asked the nurse that was attending us why the housekeeping staff didn't have masks on (we saw three different housekeeping people at three different times/locations in the practice). They didn't know but said they would report it to their supervisors.
My guess is that the housekeeping staff usually works after the office is closed, and are spread out and don't 'need' to be wearing masks, but this is just how oddly or inconsistently things are being done with this virus.
Why none of the health care professionals noticed, this, why this is/was permitted to go on when patients are still being seen, is beyond me. But if this is being done, it does make you wonder what else isn't being done correctly.
And not to pick on just this practice, as we have a friend with a mom in a nursing home, and she has seen aides tending her mother without a mask (yep, she called them out on it). And I could go on about the things I've seen in hospitals over the years that are horrifying
Point of my post is that especially right now when we are so very aware/concerned with sanitizing/disinfecting/precautions, it's obvious that not all places where we'd expect the highest of standards to be followed are actually doing so. A reminder I guess, to be vigilant and don't assume that places you should be able to trust are actually doing everything possible to protect you. And I don't at all believe this is an isolated case. I think many places are or will be slacking on the extra work this virus has brought on in the workplace.

Not surprising.

You can only control what you do, and not what anybody else does.
Also, telling people not to complain, is begging for people to comment.
Once you hit "Post", it is open to everyone to respond, even if their response is to complain about your post.
Just sayin'.

I must admit I have wondered if the cleaning people who do my office every night wear masks. I could ask the building management office if I really want to know the truth. Truly I feel like they would since it many floors and lots of offices and people who sit inside them daily.
I just ordered the below for my granddaughter to perk up her week next week for a suprise. Kind of sad in way.

If the cleaning crew is at night and eveyone has gone home for the day, why does it matter?

@Mominohio ..... The governor just mandated the following counties that are at a Red Level 3 must wear mask:
Butler
Cuyahoga
Franklin
Hamilton
Huron
Montgomery
Trumbull
Are you in one of those counties?

People are complaing about mask and virus posts, because people aren't clear in the title that that is what the post is about, and they supposedly are sick and tired of them.
I'm not going to feel bad for those that open this thread, and then complain about the subject matter, as it is listed clearly in the title.
Just sayin'

Thanks for that info, when did this come out? Today? No we are not in one of those counties, but the office visit was in Franklin county.
I'm actually surprised Ohio hasn't mandated it state wide. I'm expecting it.
