@Tabbycat I don't know about the cost of mini-cooper parts and labor, but for my BMW 530i, it costs a fortune, especially if you take it to a BMW dealership.

Our 22 year old DD had one and recently traded it for an SUV.
Her Mini was 2 door, but the front seats were surprisingly comfortable by my standards-and I'm a bear when it comes to that. There was plenty of leg room.
It had excellent pick up which is a big deal to me living in SW Florida where there are many drivers who should probably not be driving. I guess in the end it's that way everywhere, but for a little car, it's great.
In hers, there was virtually no storage space.
It sounds like the model you are looking at would be more luxurious and have more room. We have a I-8 hybrid and there are so many pluses to hybrids, especially with slower city driving.
Her car was very low-profile and it was a gold color: in dense fog, her car was difficult to see, and it was difficult for other drivers to see her.
As far as maintenance goes.....you probably will not have the problems she did because you are older and wiser. Repairs can be a little pricey-as with any import, but we have had to deal with issues-not just the MC- with our imports on getting parts in that you would just think the dealers would have on hand. That's probably true for any car.
It was gently used prior to purchase, but overall, it was a great car. I don't think you would be unhappy at all.

Where are you seeing this @SilleeMee? I am seeing a 9/10 and a 2017 top safety pick by the IIHS.
IIHS is an insurance institute dedicated to highway safety. NHTSA is a branch of the us gov, dept of transportation. These are two separate organizations. Ratings are on a different scale. @Irshgrl31201
Thanks for answering @SilleeMee! I am seeing 2017 Mini as one of IIHS top picks for safety. Perhaps this was another year?
