The NHTSA rating for the 2017 Mini Cooper is only 4. For me that's not good enough.

The MPG of most of the MINI Cooper models would stop me. AFAIC, a car that small should be far more fuel efficient.
The 2017 "Countryman" has a combined MPG of just 26, with 22 city and 32 highway.

And shockingly, holds up well in a bad accident!

I own a Mini Cooper convertible & love it!! My next Mini Cooper will be the four door
hard top - with double sun roof. It feels like a mini SUV to me

@Irshgrl.... That is sooo cute!
@chrystaltree... I saw one at the beach around 2003??? Wanted one ever since! I have a birthday (62) just a few days before hubs is set to retire. I hope you get yours for your birthday!!!
@Dorothy11 ... @Shogirl .... and @Jayn804 ...Having first hand knowledge, I sure appreciate your reviews. Good things to know!
I'm trying to talk DH into going to look at them, but want to wait for the 2017's and have a look at the hybrid. There is a Dealership about 20 minutes away. I should probably find out if they work on them there. We have a lot of homework to do before a final decision. We plan for our next car to be our last car.
My Ford van is a 1995 bought new and it's still in great shape with low milege, garaged, etc. We don't travel much and don't have plans to after retirement.
You all have almost given me "new car fever" ! LOL

I don't own one but a friend of mine does and he says when it does need a repair, it costs an arm and a leg! ![]()
They are much roomier on the inside than I would have thought looking at it from the outside. They aren't-so-mini!

Where are you seeing this @SilleeMee? I am seeing a 9/10 and a 2017 top safety pick by the IIHS.

IIHS is an insurance institute dedicated to highway safety. NHTSA is a branch of the us gov, dept of transportation. These are two separate organizations. Ratings are on a different scale. @Irshgrl31201

Opinions ...everybody has one! Who's do you trust .... NHTSA or IIHS? I had not seen the rating by NHTSA.
On a matter like this, you just have to go with your gut I reckon ..LOL
