Re: Does Anyone Here buy Knock Off Bags...

No, I've never bought knock off bags. I don't do logos, anyway. They always smack of someone who is lacking in confidence. Trying too hard.....

Re: Does Anyone Here buy Knock Off Bags...

I have never gotten a counterfeit purse or stole cable. I wouldn't know how to in the first place. WIth purses I buy what I like not because it is a LV, Prada, Birkin, etc.. I just get what I like. I cannot imagine wanting a high end purse bad enough to buy a fake if I couldn't afford it. When I was broke I bought purses at Target, consignment shops, etc.. and when I could afford higher end purses I never got them because they were high end I simply got them because I like them. Now I still get purses at Target and places with cheaper prices if I like them just like I do with high end if I like them.

Where I used to work years ago we used to have guys that came in and tried to sell bootleg DVDs. One day I got one for $1 I think and it literally looked like he recorded it on a camcorder at the movie theatre. That was the last time I had a foray into the illegal world of bootleg videos.

I bought an imitation bag once.  A few years ago I decided I wanted a yellow purse.  I searched Ebay for yellow bags and the cutest one that came up was an imitation of a designer bag.  It was NOT represented as being genuine, and when it came it was totally generic - no labels or logos at all, just a tag identifying the material as leather.  It was cute and I carried it for a season.  I wasn't trying to fool anyone.  Since I had been completely unaware of the "famous" bag that it was a "copy" of, I doubt that anyone in my circle of acquaintences was aware of it either.

"Designer Inspired" handbags are legal and not intended to fool anyone.  The manufacturers take the appealing features and colors of the item and go with that but do not put any identifying features on it.  It's when these DI handbags go to the edge by putting 'QQ" instead of "GG" that they are trying to fool the eye and indeed are trying to pass loosely for an authentic bag.  These too are, unfortunately legal and IMHO shouldn't be......

Thanks for the explanation.  I have indeed seen DI bags, but never knew they were legal, as you explained. Most of the women I see around here carrying these bags, and illegal knock off bags look like they don't have money.JMHO

I torn the label off my mattress....

i did too!!! under Penalty of Law!!!

If you own the mattress, it's ok to take the label off.  BUT the mattress company will most likely refuse to stand behind the warranty because you don't have proof that they made the mattress.  A loophole to get out of standing behind the warranty is what it's called.  If you still have the label that you tore off, they "might" stand behind the warranty.  You might have a fight on your hands though.

I see around here many women carrying those LV tote bags that have the LV initials on the inside of the bag as well. Yes, they are knock offs.

I personally don't care for the logos stamped all over on the bags, example like the D& B initials.

Has anyone here ever driven over the speed limit?

Perhaps the last time you drove yourself somewhere?

Or within the past 30 days?

Speed limits are posted for safety reasons.

When you purposely/or accidently (??) go over the speed limit, you are breaking the law.

Who here has NEVER driven over the speed limit?

Re: Does Anyone Here buy Knock Off Bags...

I have not read all the replies..but to answer the question No..A BIG FAT NO!!

I must confess I did ONE time..and my friend enlightened me on what my purchase was supporting...prostitution, Kiddie Porn, Women and Children selling  all under the umbrella of Organized Crime. I did a bit of research after that conversation and sure enough found multiple articles.

Plus it is a copyrighted item..many so say what they make millions..but would I like it if I marketed a product and somebody stole it from me and was selling knock offs penny on the dollar? No of course not..and they designed it..they manufacture it..they own it..if you cannot afford to buy a name brand item..then buy another brand that is in your budget..

@Suziepeach

I have two Coach bags and love them: one for our long, wet winters and the other one for summer, as it's open at the top.  I get a lot of flack here, when we retired to be near DD, SIL and new DGD.  The critics expect that all should be carrying vegan bags.

A vegan bag from REI became a part of my about ten years ago and it's now falling apart.

Did I ever purchase a knock-off?  Yes, a CC in Tijuana, when we lived in San Diego.  Back then, many, many women made the trip over for that reason.  However, all trips stopped, when he DoD ordered its employees, military and civilian not to do the border trip due to cartel crime.
