This is so sad but I understand the directive. Paris is the most beautiful city in the world...the architecture, the food, the arts and culture...and did I say the food? I would also add the people. Having been to France many times and speaking French, I have met wonderful people. The French have gotten a bad rap. It's just that they're more formal and polite than Americans, so when we forget their niceties, they think we're being rude and act accordingly. Once you've made a French friend the ties are for life. The thought of not seeing them brings me to tears. I pray that we can rid the world of those inhuman ISIS monsters so that France can return to something close to normal. There's a famous old song, "Paris Sera Toujours Paris," Paris will always be Paris. My greatest wish is that the song will come true.

One of my sons just came back from a week in London and he had a fantastic time.

It's only right, ethical for D of D to do so.  Heart

Of course there are wonderful people all around the world, including in France.  We are friends with a couple of lovely French families. That said, I don't think it's accurate to blame the reputation of the French on the behavior of Americans.
