Re: Do you read the really long wordy posts....

Only if they're written well and it's a topic of interest to me.

[ Edited ]

Usually I do not but if it was written by a poster whose opinions I respect, I will. When I say I respect the poster's opinion, it does not necessarily mean I always agree with them.

There are a few posters whose posts I never read, as they frustrate me.

On a positive note, despite the fact we seldom agree, there are a few posters I've grown to  enjoy posting with.  On the other hand, I am sometimes embarrassed to say I share the opinions of others.

It depends on the topic, but for the most part I just skim over to catch the highlights.  If it's one long, unbroken post then you quickly lose my interest.

I can often get too wordy because I say something and then think it might not sound as intended. Then I have to rattle on and explain.

I also whine too much when I'm feeling awful.  SORRY!

Re: Do you read the really long wordy posts....

Long posts do not bother me if they are written in a format that is readable. I can't read one long giant run-on sentence, or ones with no paragraphs, or those with tiny font. But I do try to skim and see if I can absorb the base of what they are posting about.

What bothers me more than ANYTHING, is posts in a thread that start with "well, I haven't read this whole thread but....."

If you have not read the thread, you have no business inserting your opinion. That is my own feeling. When a post starts like that and I do read it, 90% of the time what they say has either been said 5 times already, OR their 'opinion' has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of the thread.

If I cannot give posters the respect of reading an entire thread, then I have no right to insert my 2 cents. I read whole threads. It is respectful to every other poster to read before speaking (posting). If I have nothing to add, then I heart to show my agreement or support of individual posts that line up with what I would have posted. I love being able to heart now.

I might if they aren't too long and are paragraphed.  Otherwise I don't bother.

I find myself reading some of it and then going to next post.  I used to work with a girl that took 5000 (exaggerating)  words to say something some else could say in 500.

I worked with the same girl!!  And no, I don't read the wordy posts. A lot of it is just filler. I like it when the poster gets to the point without a lot of fluff.

Re: Do you read the really long wordy posts....

I'll keep this as short as I can.  Smiley Wink  Sometimes I get a little too gabby, but not as bad some some posts I see!

Like for others here, it depends on which posts I read but definitely NOT the ones that are one single mondo-paragraph, or the ones without sentences (just all one giant sentence with a bunch of dots every few words - hurts my head).

I also avoid the ones with the super ginormous font and bright colors that makes my eyeballs bleed.   If I had my druthers to get rid of any feature of this new board I'd get rid of the ability to change the font, font size, and color.  When a thread is comprised of all different sizes, colors, and fonts, it causes me headaches so I have to back away from that.

If I'm interested in the topic, and the post is well-written, absolutely!  I tend to be a bit flowery myself.  Woman Very Happy
