@Tinkrbl44, "they" is the internet service providers. And if your SS# is online, "they" can now sell it to the highest bidder, if they choose to do so. Most of the major ISP's are saying they won't, as you can see, from @JustJazzmom's link above, but it will now be legal for them to do so, if they choose.

I can imagine a lot of people are very concerned, but this certainly isn't something new.

I'm shocked at how many Facebook users sign up and never read their Terms Of Use. You give them permission to use your info .... that's why there's no monthly fee! (Duh!) So-called privacy settings don't change what they can do with your information.

@Tinkrbl44, yes that is true, when you browse any site, those same items you looked at pop up immediately on your FB page. I also realize it isn't new, but it has now been made entirely legal, again, after not being so, without permission. Just was asking what, or if, people planned to do to protect themselves, at this point. Thanks.

Are you under some illusion that your banking, SS number, medical info ect wouldn't be online if you weren't shopping?

I have a friend that hilariously thinks that going to the ATM to transfer funds from one account to the other and purchasing by check online somehow keeps your information from being on the internet. LOL

If you order online/use a cell phone or landline/send texts/email/walk or drive on public streets/use most any type of electronics, your privacy is no longer private. If you think differently? Hey, it's your business.

Think you can't be tracked wherever you go, vehicle or otherwise? Any newer electronic near you or on you, the Shadow knows, and for the right $$$, will pass it on.

I have no intention of pretending almost everything I do is not being heard/watched or read. Also have no intention of living the few years I have left living in a bunker. Same with how I do business. Will continue to buy where I get the best for my buck.

Privacy? Just an empty and meaningless word now to me.

John, I feel the exact same way. Beyond being super-careful, what can we do?

I refuse to buy a car that has a computer. I haven't bought a smart phone or smart TV. I don't go on facebook or twitter, but I do make contacts via Linked In. Nevertheless, if I leave my garage and drive my computerless vehicle down the street, street cams are watching license plates. As paranoid as it sounded years ago, Big Brother IS watching us! sigh.
