@retiredatlast @maybe it is an east coast thing .  I certainly have one where we keep scissors, twist ties from bread, greeting cards so I have them on hand for bdays, thank you's etc.  tape , pens, clips for chips, and many other things that don't go really anywhere else so it goes in thev"junk" drawer!

Yup.  One in the kitchen and one of my dresser drawers is junk drawer for my personal stuff.  And then there's that junk box under my bathroom sink for all those beauty products I'm never going to use.

Sure in the kitchen....various tools tapes, clothespins, photos, keys, lighters, glue, needles and threads, scissors, pens, pencils, chalk, nuts, screws, coins, on and on and on.
