@VanSleepy wrote:Oh @momtochloe you are really riling me up with your mention of Buona! I grew up near the original one in Berwyn. They used to have a package that I ordered for every party (I live in NJ now). They quit making that package last year, and now I am forced to eat that Portillo's junk!!
@VanSleepy I love both Buona and Portillo's. I don't think I have ever had a bad meal at either place and what I really like is that their employees seem to be treated well and are happy. I am very surprised that Buono stopped offering that package as they are aggressive shall we say in terms of expansion but is the Portillo's offerings that bad? To be honest, I only eat in their restaurants so I know nothing of their frozen/shipped offerings . . . bummer that Portilllo's is a no . . . ![]()

@momtochloe I grew up on Buona and Carm's and the local beef stands. I think Portillo's became popular after I had already left Illinois so I guess I just have an "attitude" about them lol. My comforts far from home were Buona and Home Run Inn and they both stopped shipping recently. I think it might be time to go visit my sister! (Sorry this has nothing to do with ketchup :-) )

@stuyvesant wrote:I was in a discussion where people said they liked this or that catsup. I can't tell a difference. Do you have standards for catsup, and if so, what are they?
I can tell a difference. If it's not Heinz, I'll pass on the ketchup. 😊 Lately I'm on a ranch kick, though, so I haven't reached for ketchup in a while. I've gotten to where I eat my fries plain or dip them in ranch dressing.

@sunshine45 wrote:i am much more flexible when it comes to mustard.....maybe because i like so many different styles of mustard? i LOVE yellow mustard and vidalia onions on a kosher hot dog.
yellow.......usually have to have either frenchs or plochmans, sometimes koops
dijon.......usually has to be grey poupon.
sweet/hot......has to be mister mustard
stone ground.....usually has to be inglehoffer or maille
honey mustard......has to be kens
@sunshine45 Seriously...try Trader Joe's dijon. It's so hot and delicious! And I'm a big fan of Stadium mustard, although it might be Ballpark mustard in your area
Especially on kosher dogs!

i dont need hot mustard on my hot dog.....i like a plain yellow mustard. i am not a trader joes shopper so the chance i would buy their mustard is pretty slim to none.
in regards to MIRACLE WHIP......i will NEVER buy that. i am a true hellmans or dukes purchaser.

This is so funny, who knew, 13 pages about catsup/ketchup.

I won't buy or use anything with the Heinz name on it. So its Hunts for me. I may try to make my own catsup this year when tomatoes are abundant.
