Re: Do you do a price comparison/ check?

I don't buy much food from QVC but when I do, I don't do any price comparisons.  I probably should but if I am buying from QVC or Goldbelly, it's usually something that hubby really wants and is really good so I just buy it.

Re: Do you do a price comparison/ check?

Since the advent of the internet, I certainly do. Back in the day, it was much more difficult to 'shop around', and literally meant just that. Running from store to store, town to town was something I saved for just the bigger purchases back then.

Today I do it for almost everything I buy.

Absolutely...saw a pair of earth origins sandals for 59.50 plus s&h at QVC but on Walmart.com they are 38.47 and free shipping.  They are coming from shoes.com but bought thru walmart.com.  Over 20.00 savings.

Re: Do you do a price comparison/ check?

Always, always, always.

Not only a price comparison, but a product comparison as well.  Sometimes, QVC has a product that is sold to meet a price point, or has a design specifically for "QVC shoppers."   I get suspicious when the host or vendor says "this was made based on your requests and comments!"

I never buy because of price alone.  It has to have the specs & features that I want, then I compare before buying.

Re: Do you do a price comparison/ check?

I no longer purchase food from QVC.  The times that I have, have been disappointing.  But, yes. Definitely check prices!  Can't believe the outrageous prices Qvc charges. Many times if you go directly to the vendor site the price is better and you get more food.  Case in point, Lobster.  I checked the vendor site when Q was selling frozen lobster tails.  The price was better and you received 2 more tails than what QVC was offering on their food program. So check before you buy.

If I see it on QVC I usually buy it on QVC.  Not always, though, the Amazon Fire Stick was cheaper on Amazon and I got Prime free shipping.

I sure do.  If I see something here that I like I always check elsewhere and usually it is always cheaper, faster shipping and free returns.

I ordered a food item on QVC and just happened to check the website because upon arrival there were no directions. The item was 1/2 of the price and an additional 15% off on the website!  No bargain at QVC!

QVC was also showing a new item a few days ago and I checked Amazon for price comparison- Not only was the price lower by $8, but the shipping was free (saving an additional $6)

THis happens very freqiently!

I could be wrong, but I have never seen where QVC represented themselves as having the absolute lowest prices ... for anything.

For most people, repeatedly buying from QVC is for the convenience factor.   They (usually) have the product in their warehouse when it's ordered, and many items can be purchased on easy pay ... NOT the full price, just a fraction of the whole cost.  Plus, you can pretty much return anything you buy from them, within that 30 day window.

There are so many reasons why people order online rather than go out shopping locally where there may not be much of a selection  ....   I think "convenience" is at the top of the list.

I ALWAYS price check....and just a tip....even an Amazon Exec admitted that Amazon does not have the lowest prices, but the consumers assume they do......

One price check I found was "My Grandma's Cinnamon Walnut Coffee Cake" which was $24.33 at QVC and only $14.99 at Central Market (a speciality Super Market) same ounces and everything....

@Spurt

I don't know why people assume that .... figuring they don't have to, right?

Personally, I enjoy the comparison shopping process ... my sister calls it "the thrill of the hunt".      Stores have sales, promotions, drastic markdowns to free up warehouse space, etc etc.  Lots of reasons to see what an item is selling for in various places.

IMO, one thing people may not be alert to is the sales and promotions out there at the last few weeks of any calendar quarter.    Every publicly-held retail company has to issue their Quarterly Earnings report to Shareholders, so the last few weeks of the quarter often have a major sales push to increase sales for that quarter.  It doesn't necessarily mesh with any holiday, but often it does seem that way.

Re: Do you do a price comparison/ check?

I like to save money, it's better in my pocket than the company's. I often do comparison shopping. Slightly off topic, I went with my sister today to Old Navy. She had some reward cash that was expiring today ( you should have seen the line to checkout everyone had the same idea). They have a price check machine, my sister puts her tee shirt under and doesn't notice the shirt comes up as $10, the tag says $8. I call it to her attention, we ask a salesclerk what is going on with the shirt. She finds out the shirt was tagged incorrectly at $8, it is $10. My sister says they should honor the $8 price on the tag, she asks the salesclerk to find out if they will, they did. You always have to be aware of what you are being charged for merchandise.
