As for whether the actor mentioned by the OP was snubbed for his opinion, I have no idea.
I know this will come as a shock to you, but sometimes when you hear a differing opinion, you can actually learn something. It even happens here on our discussion boards. Seriously.
"Don't confuse me with the facts, I've already made up my mind," really doesn't serve people.
However, by all means, continue to keep your head in the sand if that's what you like to do.

It no doubt took a few days for the program to be released and become viral for those who were not in attendance. In fact, the video clip likely garnered no serious internet traction until March 5th or March 6th.
Academy voting closed at 5 pm PST on March 5th.
I'm comfortable believing that most votes were cast prior to the controversy, although this is just my assessment.
I don't believe for a Hollywood Heartbeat that his comments altered enough votes to shift the outcome.
I saw Chalamet on The Graham Norton show and thought a couple of his comments would be called "young and stupid" comments by many.
IMO, if you're out there promoting your film it's probably best not to criticize other films. JMO, of course.

I was referencing specifically the comments made on February 24th in which the "ballet/opera" comments were made.
Of course, the totality of his press tour remarks could have influenced voting.
I agree completely with his thoughts on popular entertainment.
Who knows? Not me. Not you.

@RescueLover Since when did nominees"Comments" have anything to do w/how the Academy Award judges vote?

@Tinkrbl44 Just because someone does not change their mind, it does not mean that their "head is in the sand." The poster could very well listen to other opinions. However, getting news and opinions from celebrities is not a very good source, now is it?

I thought his comments were thoughtless, unkind, insulting and immature. That being said, he's pretty much still a kid and learning the ropes of how to act. My guess is that his "joke", which has turned around to bite him in the backside will probably make him think twice in the future before trying to get a cheap laugh.

Have to admit I have never seen him in a movie but I'm sure he's an excellent actor. His comments about opera/ballet were stupid. Both arts have been around for 200 or so years. I wonder if the movies will last as long. With AI coming along, real actors will not be necessary but live performances will always be.

It took Paul Newman 30 years to win an Oscar and Glenn Close who is a fab actress has never won one, Kirk Douglas never won one until he received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
