I am thinking about inviting some young colleagues I'm friendly with who have no family close by and asking them each to bring a favorite dish.
If I can set that up, I will get a "heritage" turkey from Zingermans, a deli in Ann Arbor I first learned about on these BBs. I am now a fairly regular customer. I would provide the turkey and gravy, stuffing, cranberry etc., wine/beer, and maybe potatoes and brussel sprouts, as they are best prepared right before eating.
The others could bring salad, vegetarian alternatives, desserts, whatever they like.

I always use the Pillsbury pie crusts. I think they're pretty good and easy to use. I have a small cookie cutter of fall leaves. I make a border around the pie using the cut outs.

Last year everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, so I made reservations again for this year.
Everyone's menu sounds delicious.
That's a good idea, SR
The last time I made tofu turkey, I made the decision, from now on we are eating in a restaurant.
We seem to have a lot of friends who don't eat meat so it was kind of a compromise.
Memories of Marie Barone's Tofu Turkey that jiggled came to mind. LOL
I bet your's was much better!

I am only making a few things and everything else is going to be brought or made there at my house. We have about 20-25 people coming so we usually have a lot of stuff.
I am making(when I say I, I mean my husband and I)
3 Turkeys
2 Hams
Stuffing
Cranberry Sauce (I make mine with orange zest too)
Mashed Potatoes
Roasted Brussell Sprouts with pancetta
Pumpkin Pie
Pecan Pie
Chocolate Caramel Salted Tart
My daughter, sister and mom and some guests are bringing some favorites of theirs and the rest of the desserts. I invite a some people who have family out of state and they bring their favorites too. Some family from out of state will be staying with us and a couple of friends from Australia will be staying with us during Thanksgiving. They have experienced one before and they love it. They are like what is not to like? Too much food, too many desserts and too much alcohol. Though I rarely drink anymore there are usually a variety of spirits at our dinners.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. This thread made me hungry!!

I'll go to the seafood market the day before and pick up whatever looks good to me (shrimp, scallops and/or stone crab claws). On Thanksgiving day I'll sit on the beach until I feel hungry and then I'll fix whatever I bought the day before with a salad and enjoy.
Dungeness crab is a Thanksgiving tradition in the bay area.
