Re: Do You Have A Nest or Other Doorbell With Camera?

I decided to get a camera when someone tried to break in.  Policeman told me not to get a Ring because they were easily stolen.  I didnt think to ask him how / why.  I ended up purchasing Arlo Pro 2 cameras.  I have them under my eaves so they show the front yard and driveway.  Will be putting one in the back soon.  So far, it has stopped a package thief, a "wayward youth" from spray painting my house and someone from breaking into the gargarage.  Have had them a year.  The only thing I don't like is they have a 3-4 second delay before they alert.  I have them with rechargeable batteries.

We don't need one as our Windows are next to our front door.  Ten years ago DH built a gate to enclose railing around front porch.  We keep it locked, which keeps out solicitors (UPS just puts package over railing so it can't be seen from road).

I have a ring doorbell.  I don't fear it being stolen.  I don't find it easy to pull off.  If someone did though, they would be on tape walking up to the door and the video is in the cloud.  They are also replaced by ring if stolen.  I think for an entry level/low cost unit, it does a good job.  If I had serious safety concerns, I'd likely but a system that is monitored by a company.  The ring though, meets my needs.  I got one for my mother and watch her videos.  I haven't though tried the talking to someone through it yet.

No!  I added a few floodlights and motion detector lights where I felt they were well placed. Not much activity in our area because there is 1 way in and 1 way out. All our neighbors are retired so there are alwayspeople around. I believe thieves and robbers look for targets where they know if someone is there, and when. In our area they would be guessing, and like myself, my neighbors have what they need, should the occasion ever arise.

No, we have a bow window near the door and I can see from there to the front stoop. 2 cats are our only form of protection.

Last year my daughter bought us the RING from QVC.  It was the last thing I wanted, and I thought it would sit in box.  But my husband put it up right away, and connected it to his iPhone.  I love it, really is a wonderful gadget!  We use it a lot when we travel to see when the grandsons come to feed cats.  It really is a necessity in this day and age.  It was simple to connect.or, so my husband said.

We are looking into them.  Thought about Ring and some other brands but shouldn't it be connected to a security company that's monitoring everything?  We have a security system now and it's with a security company so we may look into that..

@Sooner  I purchased a Kuna.  Below is the one that I got, but they have other styles.  It replaces the light fixture on your porch, and took me 5 minutes to switch out the old light with this one.  There are matching ones without the camera if you wanted to have additional ones (like near the garage).  I've been very happy with mine.  The picture is incredible and it because my doorbell is on the wall to the side of my door, it gives me a better view then a Ring system would.  And you can adjust the camera.  Plus, no additional wiring or outlet required like some other systems that I was considering.

We don't have one, but my daughter does.  She has Ring and since she works at home, she really needs it for security and to know when a deluvery is made.

When we went on vacation, she was able to check on the pet sitter, seeing when she was at the house and how long she stayed.  Unfortunately, the sitter spent as little time as possible.  So, no tip and we won't use her again.
