My Bosch is about 16 years old.  It has a 'Sanitize' feature at the end of the cycle that causes the heat and steam.

My dishes are all dry though, not sopping wet, when it finishes.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

My sister has a Bosch, I have a Kenmore that came with the home we bought 18 year's ago. The Kenmore has been good, but my next one will be a Bosch because my sister love's her, it's very quite and does a great job. Bosch has several different models, the one I want is the most expensive, but has more feature's.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

@DottieBlue,

My daughter has had to replace her fairly new bosch dishwasher for the second time. She also had to replace the Bosch stove that the former owner had put in. It was not that old.

She had heard good things about them too, so I don't know. Maybe they just aren't as good as they used to be, like many things nowadays, that are made to not last.

I have a whirlpool that I've had for 5 years and I like it a lot. I do keep the door open to air it. I also never knew about the dishwashing rinse we are supposed to put in the little container to make sure dishes dry so I do that now. I notice when it is empty, the dishes are hot but wet after the drying cycle.

I also like how easy and sturdy the racks are.

The Bosch have the strangest racks that don't hold things well I think anyway.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

My Bosch is a year old and I think it's wonderful. I have open concept floor plan so quiet was very important. Agree with the Sanitize program. I found that many dishwashers don't have a heat dry cycle like the old days 🤦🏻‍♀️  Now everything is air dry concept.

This replaced my horrific Viking-don't buy one, EVER!

Thank you all for your replies.  I did like our Bosch but don't know if they are the same quality today as the ones made 10 or more years ago.

The one thing I didn't like about it was after it completed a "regular wash" cycle, when I opened the door right away tons of steam would escape and the items inside would still be sopping wet and very hot.  So I would need to prop the door open for the dishes to air dry for at least another 2 hours, or not open the door and let it "set" for a couple of hours for the dishes to dry and cool down.  Is this the way it is supposed to work?

With the Kenmore I had previous to this one, the dishes were dry at the end of the cycle but quite warm.

I am just trying to avoid making a big mistake with the purchase of a new dishwasher...

@DottieBlue  This is in place of that old heating element in the old dishwashers that burned plastic up.  Now it's extremely hot water with no heating element.  The water does the washing.  It needs time to evaporate.  If you want to take them out soon after they finish, you are filled with steam in your face, knowing that your dishes met that hot water and sterilized them. Either wipe the ones you want to use and close the door and let them dry or wait a couple hours so it finishes its act.

@Mustang Shar That's because you don't have that old heating element in the new dishwashers that burns up plastic things.

My 10-year old Bosch dishwasher just "died."  So I need to buy a new dishwasher.

Do you have any recommendations on what brand to buy?  I have no idea what is out there on the market now.  Don't know whether to stick with the Bosch brand because brands do change over time and usually not for the better.  The one that just quit was very nice and so very quiet.

Thanks for any input you'd like to share.

I love my 3-4 year old Bosch, have never had a quieter dishwasher and the dishes sparkle.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

Add me to the Bosch fan club.  Mine is going on 17 years old and I have never had an issue.  So quiet I have to check to make sure it is on.  Spotless dishes.

I also have a Bosch dual fuel range, same age.  LM

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

Another Bosch fan here.

My machine was installed in 2005.  Still going strong!
