My 10-year old Bosch dishwasher just "died."  So I need to buy a new dishwasher.

Do you have any recommendations on what brand to buy?  I have no idea what is out there on the market now.  Don't know whether to stick with the Bosch brand because brands do change over time and usually not for the better.  The one that just quit was very nice and so very quiet.

Thanks for any input you'd like to share.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

We have a Bosch, came with the condo.  Would buy again.  So quiet and does a good job.  It has to be at least 10 years old and going strong.  But then we only use it every 3 days.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

My Bosch is 16 years old and I would buy another Bosch.  I heard so many good things about the Meile.  My DIL has one and she is not any happier with it than she was her former Bosch, but the price was higher.  Who knows.  I guess we get a good one sometimes and we get a lemon sometimes.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

I've always heard that Bosch is really great.  I wonder why it only lasted ten years.  Smiley Sad

We have a Kenmore that I didn't actually buy.  It was in the house when we bought it 21 years ago and still works great.   Quiet, too!  Quiet is one of the qualities I'd look for if I were shopping for one.  I like how they have stainless steels interiors now.

Trust yourself and stick with the brand you know.

I would try to repair it unless it is more economical to replace.  I have a Bosch and would only buy that brand if mine goes out.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

We have and old Kenmore that came with the house almost 20 yrs. ago. It still works fine..I don't use it that often ..only the 2 of us.

A relative just bought a GE..she says  DON'T BUY ONE.

It take over 3 hrs. to run...The dishes dry but the walls  stay really wet..She leaves the door ajar..so it doesn't get moldy!

It has PLASTIC walls!..she had a GE tech come and look at it..He said it was up to standards! She wasn't offered the more expensive one with stainless steel inside..She used to swear by GE.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

Thank you all for your replies.  I did like our Bosch but don't know if they are the same quality today as the ones made 10 or more years ago.

The one thing I didn't like about it was after it completed a "regular wash" cycle, when I opened the door right away tons of steam would escape and the items inside would still be sopping wet and very hot.  So I would need to prop the door open for the dishes to air dry for at least another 2 hours, or not open the door and let it "set" for a couple of hours for the dishes to dry and cool down.  Is this the way it is supposed to work?

With the Kenmore I had previous to this one, the dishes were dry at the end of the cycle but quite warm.

I am just trying to avoid making a big mistake with the purchase of a new dishwasher...

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

The Crystal Dry feature on our Bosch works well, and it's about 3 or 4 years old.  VERY quiet and washes great, has all the cycles we need.

Re: Dishwasher Recommendations?

I just replaced my 23 y.o. dw last month as I was replacing my equally old washer & dryer, the latter of which was no longer heating. Budget was a consideration when replacing 3 appliances. I chose the Bosch. I am also a Miele fan, but the Miele, while it could be expected to last 20 years, was 4 times the price of the Bosch.

Another plus for the Bosch: in stock and in my preferred color of white.

Bosch was highly rated, very good reliability, available and came with a nice choice of features and price points. I am a single person and run my DW just once or twice a week.
