Seriously, just about everything, more or less, we buy is made overseas. No matter how expensive/inexpensive.
I'm only guessing that the folks in CA might have a better chance in avoiding lead, etc. But I'm not even sure about that. Does all of the items, clothing, etc. over there have labels or signs?
'I don't know', I sometimes wonder about 'this and that' and probably am better off not.
Just wash everything before wearing. Sheets, pillowcases, etc. And all newborn/baby items.
It's the best we can do, for now.

Hard to find now anything that was not made in China.
The dishes etc from here are from China.

I have bought glasses and soup bowls from Dollar Tree and they've held up great. Some of them I've had for years.
I was actually in Dollar Tree a few days ago and was so tempted to buy some of the new fall bowls that are out. They are so pretty. I didn't get them because I just don't need them, but they were beautiful for the price. I don't usually buy a lot of seasonal decor but these really caught my eye. I still might end up going back for some.

Yes, about 12 years ago I bought some white dinner plates with red snowflakes there to use at xmas and winter time. I got lots of compliments on them. No more than they were used, lead never entered my mind. In fact, if we'd used them everyday, lead wouldn't have entered my mind. The majority of dinnerware sold in this country is from China and as other posters mentioned it's not 1940 anymore.

I like the others wouldn't purchase dinner ware from Dollar Tree, or toothpaste or lotion or anything that you eat or use on your body. China is less then honest when it comes to the glazes, fillers, ingredients they put in their food, etc. Guess that is why I don't shop in DT stores.

I went to DT this morning. I didn't buy any dinnerware, but bought some cute fall and Halloween decor. Bought four Hallmark cards for $2. Works for me.

There used to be a lot or most things that were made in China. You would be surprised now at how many things at the Dollar Tree are made in the USA! Very encouraging.
I think the Dollar Store still has more things made in China but I may be mistaken.
There are more Dollar Trees around us then Dollar Stores and I've noticed the difference between the 2.

I have sets of Corelle dinnerware as my every day dishes and the mugs are ironstone made in china stamped right on them.

Slightly off topic. Does anyone else think the $1 price at Dollar Tree will have to be raised due to the tariffs? I don't see how they can continue to sell Chinese made products at pre-tariff prices. Maybe they will call it a temporary surcharge. I have to think that 80% of Dollar Tree's products are made in China. And that may be a low estimate.

I received a very pretty pumpkin bottle filled with soap as a gift recently. It was not
from the dollar store but a department store.
I was ready to put it in my downstairs bathroom when I decorate my house for
the season. Guess what? When I looked at the bottle the soap is from China while
the bottle was made in the U.S.
I did not keep it. I took it back to where it was from and told the cashier that I would
like to return it for store credit because I am not using soap from China. She said
that it was understandable. No problem.
