Re: Diffusers, Scents and Aromatherapy

[ Edited ]

I started using essential oils for home fragrance last year. I do have a diffuser in the bedroom but really prefer an electric fragrance warmer because the scent seems purer to me. I just put some drops of oil in a little bit of water. I use Plant Guru oils from Amazon.

Animals are sensitive to smells.  They experience scents many times more than people.  Just watch your dog with his nose to the ground.  I stopped using scented candles, etc. when I read an article regarding animals and their discomfort with strong scents in the home.

I would assume that if an animal had discomfort they would demonstrate it somehow physically. If I see no discomfort demonstrated and the animal is curled up asleep in the midst of the scent, I'm going to assume no problem. I'm sure there are scents animals find unpleasant or stressful, but if I see no evidence of that in what I'm using I'm not going to stop.

I'm not sure what you mean by "not safe." Do you think they'll knock it over? I've had two cats while using diffusers and neither showed any interest in them, or any reaction at all. One cat was quite elderly and the other is asthmatic, and zero discomfort from either of them.

Re: Diffusers, Scents and Aromatherapy

Thanks, @Katcat1. I've bookmarked it.

I saw in a Youtube video that water reservoirs over 300 ml dilute the fragrance too much, and that short squatty diffusers keep the scent going longer because there's less air inside the chamber. Interesting things to know.
