Difference between a heart and thumbs up

Sometimes when I click on  a comment I agree with a heart appears, and sometimes a thumbs up.  Why does that happen?

They made a change to the software, maybe to make it more clear that the heart has been clicked. There's no other difference.

I don't get why people get in such a tizzy over a symbol.  However, with all the changes going on there should have been a better way of communicating and getting the message out to the users to minimize the volume of questions (most repetitive).  QVC might want to start a new topic "RECENT UPDATES" and list the happenings there.

This was all I found and I had to dig for it after the fact:

Thanks, I was curious too. I noticed when you hit it, it shows as a thumbs up, but when you see it on the post, it is still a heart....

@Miranda1550, @ChynnaBlue, @sparklestar, @Mothertrucker

          If we "heart" a post, the red heart changes to a thumbs up icon and remains as a thumbs up.   If we click the heart more than once, though, we "un-heart" the post (the same action which previously was called "Revoke my heart" in the 3-dot menu) and the icon changes back to a red heart.   In my opinion, it makes it far to easy to "un-heart" a post without intending to do so.

        So, if you see the red heart while you're logged in, it means you haven't "hearted" the post.

Well, it ruined my day. I wanted to throw my notebook out the window, when i saw the new symbol. What are they thinking? Thumbs up, but what about thumbs down? At least they could send everyone a notification. How hard is that? Anymore changes like that, I will have to make a stiff drink and go to bed.

          I don't know about a tizzy, but as I said I'm not a huge fan of it since it's far too easy to "un-heart" a post without intending to.

It doesn't really matter and it doesn't make a difference.  It's an icon.
