In our area, we usually got mail late.  About 4:00PM.  During the periods just before Christmas, it was awful.  Getting mail 8:00 at night, etc.  The mail carriers would walk down the street in the dark with flashlights.   I called the post office and yes...complained about it, after we mail delivery (we heard it) after 9:00PM.  Latest we ever got it.  I have USPS service of showing via email all mail I was to expect on each day. Right now, I run out to check any mail after 4:00PM.

I can beat you all at this game. I did one of those fun colonscopy home tests this morning in full anticipation of being able to stick it in our mailbox for pick-up today, even though I had been aware of the holiday.

Oh, well "stuff" happens. Literally.

@Sweet_Serenity

I went to my private post office and picked up two packages today. But one I was expecting wasn’t there. The USPS had the day off delivering some items ...surepost. My Amazon package and pay through Amazon package were delivered. One was actually a day early.

I could not not understand why the other package wasn’t delivered! The owner of my PPO reminded me.

Funny .... I was wondering why there was no mail.  I had gone out to get a haircut and all the stores were open.  Never realized it was a holiday!

The mail here comes around noon.  It didn't dawn on me there was no mail today.  I thought it was odd to see a m a I'll truck driving down the street at 4pm.  They must have been delivering a package.

@Sweet_Serenity  When I was growing up you always received your mail in the morning.  Not today -  late afternoon at best.  Times have changed. Cat Wink

Thanks for the info, @Mz iMac.  I've been writing NO MAIL on all the federal holidays in my planner, but this is a nice backup.  Visual aids have always been my friend.  ;-)

@Katcat1

Growing up we got mail twice a day, morning & afternoon.

Our mm is an early bird.  Mail comes no later than 10:00 am.

Where I use to live, I would be lucky to get mail by 5:00 pm! Smiley Sad
