I am going to tell my story about Black Patent Leather
shoes ....
I had to wear brownish red buster borwns .. there was a
girl in my grade at school that got to wear Black Patents
everyday ... my mother said they would ruin my feet ..
I was so envious ... I'm 77 and this was 4th grade and
I still think about that ...
I was in the third grade and begged for a pair of black patents when I needed school shoes. My mother resisted, but gave in to my begging.
My siblings and I would go to the shoe repair shop and get small taps put on the heals of the shoes. It didn't take long for me to realize that dress shoes were not the best for playing on our asphalt playground. Memories!

Oh I remember the black and white oxford
shoes, that I used for brakes when I was riding my bike, I hated those shoes, just couldn't wear them out. That's why my mother bought them, she was very thrifty.
