My dad used to eat mac&cheese with tuna fish.

He used to have weird concoctions.

Apple pie w/ a slice of cheddar cheese,

salting watermelon & eating beef tongue, so...

(Shudder)

@sidsmom My mother use to make Tongue. I don't know if it was beef but I would run  as soon as I saw it. I tried it once and never again. I didn't even want to look at it,  A lot of people eat Apple Pie with Cheddar but again, not for me. I'm TOTALLY with you!

I put a little salt on watermelon and honeydew melon too. To me, it makes them taste sweeter.

A kugel is a sweet noodle casserole; why not mac and cheese?

Use a mild cheese and sweeten the cream sauce...add fruit, raisins and/or nuts!

In Arkansas, they eat green strawberries and salt!

@Zhills yes, plus it's not like cheese-based sweet offerings are a new thing.  Cheesecake and cheese danish probably sound gross (or the idea of mascarpone in tiramisu, etc., or just in and of itself...) to people who've never experienced them.  But they're quite popular.  I don't really see why dessert mac and cheese would be any different.

@Zhills  Lived in Arkansas for 20 years and NEVER heard of that one!  Yikes!  Salt and watermelon and canteloup is great!  I do that.  But green strawberries?  Don't know. . . don't know.

We have grilled watermelon here and there.

Salting watermelon (or other melons) is not unusual.

Mac 'n cheese with anything but mac 'n cheese is just gross.  LOL

And why oh why do people put tuna in stuff? I have an aversion since a tuna noodle casserole was the last thing I had eaten before I puked with appendicitis.  LOL

Just had a *barf* discussion in TV about somebody in TWD putting sardines in mac 'n cheese.

I only like sardines straight out of the can or on a piece of bread. With mustard.

It doesn't sound all that weird to me. I grew up with the previously mentioned Kugels in the family recipe offerings.  Both sweet and savory. I didn't realize until I got older that other people have never heard of noodle kugel!    Granted, that isn't exactly sweet "mac and cheese", but I can imagine a sweet version of that being not as horrible as it sounds.   I used to be grossed out at the idea of bread pudding until I tried a good one.  Smiley Happy
